  • Education Pays taking applications for fall loan awards

    TELL CITY – The Board of Directors of Education Pays student loan fund of Tell City-Perry County, is accepting applications for interest-free loans to be awarded to students pursuing a post-high school education for the fall 2015 semester.  
    Applications are available at the offices of the guidance counselors at Cannelton, Perry Central and Tell City high schools and at Fifth Third Bank. The deadline for submitting applications is June 1.

  • WTE to hold kindergarten round-up Thursday

    TELL CITY – Kindergarten enrollment for the Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 12, for children entering school for the first time. Attendees should enter through the main door and follow signs.  
    To enter kindergarten for the 2015-16 school year, a child must be at least 5 years old on or before Aug. 1.  A child does not have to enroll in kindergarten at age 5. If parents believe the child is not ready, the child may enter kindergarten at age 6.

  • USI releases fall 2014 semester dean’s list
  • Smiles erupt from hands-on learning

    Preschool students at SonShine Early Ministry in Evanston excitedly watch as a volcano they built erupts. The pre-kindergarten class spent a week studying volcanoes, reading several books to learn what causes a volcano to form and what makes them erupt. The kids made the volcano out of clay and then mixed baking soda and vinegar to produce the “lava” eruption.   • Students seek photos, donations of lumber

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Junior Senior High School environmental science class seeks donations of treated wood for a city project. Wood can be new or used, such as wood from old decks, etc. The wood will be used to create new bins to contain garbage and recycling along greenway areas in Tell City.     Also needed are photos of Tell City Junior High activities, clubs, sports and events from 2011 to today to be used for a school project.

  • Stepping Stones now registering for fall

    LEOPOLD – Stepping Stones Preschool, located in the lower level of St. Augustine Catholic Church parish hall, is accepting registrations for the 2015-16 school year. 

    The preschool seeks to provide a positive educational experience for 3 and 4 year old children, preparing them for elementary school. Stepping Stones uses Zoo-phonics, a multisensory language arts program, and a thematic unit and project-type approach to learning.

    PERRY CENTRAL SCHOOLS

    Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches will be offered as third choice. Salads on Monday, Wednesday; subs on Tuesday, Thursday.

    Monday: BREAKFAST - Sausage bagel LUNCH - Hot dog on a bun with chili sauce, mixed vegetables and apple crisp.

    Tuesday: BREAKFAST - Blueberry muffin LUNCH - Salisbury steak and gravy, hot roll, mashed potatoes and green beans and peaches.

  • Waninger earns fall 2014 dean’s list honor at IUPUI

    INDIANAPOLIS – Clint Waninger of Tell City was recently named to the Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis dean’s list for the fall 2014 semester.

    He is majoring in mechanical engineering and plans to graduate from Purdue University.

    Waninger is a 2014 graduate of Tell City High School and is the son of Jerry and Jo Waninger of Tell City.

  • Hayes Named to U. of Memphis dean’s list

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. – McKenzie Hayes of Tell City was named to the dean’s list at the University of Memphis for the fall 2014 semester. The dean’s list is composed of students who have earned 12 or more hours in either the fall or spring semester with a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for that semester.
