  • Linne, LaGrange Schweizer Fest...

    TELL CITY—Over 150 golfers hit the links at Hoosier Heights Country Club Aug. 11-12 for the annual Schweizer Fest tourney, one of the biggest held at the course each year.

    Bob Linne and Dan LaGrange recorded their third Schweizer Fest win when they shot a 124 in the two-day, 36-hole two-person scramble.

    Mark and Shane Flannagan won the First Flight with 129. Second Flight winners were Brad Stiles and David Clarke with 139 and Third Flight winners were Zach Sanders and Jeff Sanders with 141.

  • TC falls to Titans, Tigers

    TELL CITY—Tell City missed 11 serves in a 25-15, 25-10, 19-25, 25-20 PAC volleyball loss to Gibson Southern Thursday.

    “They’re a really good team,” said Tell City Coach Dalonda Hayes. “They made a lot of quick sets - they moved the ball around and our timing was off.

    “Right now we’re really a roller-coaster team. Our first part of our season is pretty tough and we’re young.

    “It’s trial and error right now. The first two sets I just felt like we were not in it.

  • TC boys win Border Clash; girls...

    OWENSBORO, Ky.— Tell City’s boys cross country team won the Kentucky/Indiana Border Clash for the fifth straight year Tuesday with 79 points.

    Two Marksman runners placed in the top 10 with Nate Kaiser finishing fourth in 16:15.61 and Kaden Chestnut eighth in 16:44.36.

    “Overall as a team, we ran average at best,” Marksman Coach Brian Beckort said. “The boys are pretty resilient, which is good because we had a couple towards the end that passed about 10-15 runners and that makes a difference.”

  • Perry Central falls to 2...

    LEOPOLD—Bree Noland made 14 kills but Perry Central lost to North Harrison 20-25, 25-15, 30-28, 25-21 in volleyball Thursday.

    Maria Hubert added six kills and Morgan Judy five. Addy Davis had 16 assists.

    Davis made four blocks and Alyssa Hill added three. Elisha Schwartz made 10 digs and Maddie Labhart six.

    Hubert served three aces.

    Perry Central also lost at Corydon 25-18, 19-25, 25-16, 27-25 Tuesday.

    Noland made nine kills and Hubert four. Davis had nine assists and Judy seven.

  • Heritage Hills shuts out Tell...

    LINCOLN CITY—After a competitive first half, Heritage Hills dominated the second and cruised past Tell City 49-0 in PAC football Friday.

    Through two games the Marksmen have failed to score.

    “We are not a bad team, but we had some quit in the second half,” Marksman Coach Aaron Clements said. “When things went wrong we started to quit.

    “We don’t have timing right and things aren’t going the way they are supposed to be going.”

    LEOPOLD—Cameron Bland passed for four touchdowns and ran for two others as Perry Central whipped Forest Park 45-0 in football Friday.

    The sophomore quarterback was extremely efficient passing, completing 7 of 8 attempts for 245 yards.

    He fell just short of Shon Hubert’s school record of five touchdown passes in a game set in 2001 and Bob Ransome’s school record of 284 passing yards in a game set in 1969.

  • GIRLS GOLF: Southridge outshoots...

    HUNTINGBURG – Baileigh Schneider shot 41 for medalist honors as Southridge defeated Tell City 216-244 in girls golf Monday.

    Mollie Arnold and Hannah Gray each shot 58 to lead Tell City.

    Maggie Lamb shot 61 and Cloey Pledger 67 to complete the Marksmen’s scoring.

    Tell City, 1-3, will host Heritage Hills Monday at 4 p.m.

  • Marksmen rout Southridge

    TELL CITY – Riley Strahl scored three goals as Tell City crushed Southridge 11-1 in junior high girls soccer last Thursday.

    Gabrielle Ettensohn, Aly Kleaving and Maddie Leinenbach each added two goals, and Anna Armstrong and Erin Holtzman scored one apiece.

    “The girls played a great game,” said Tell City Coach Joe Ettensohn. “Our offense was spot on as we passed and moved the ball very well on the field today. We managed to maintain possession of the ball for well over half of the game.

  • 7th Grade Volleyball: Commodores...

    ORLEANS – Molly Briggeman served nine aces as Perry Central defeated Orleans 25-23, 25-21 in seventh grade volleyball Monday.

    Lilly Hurm and MaKenna Labhart each added three aces.

    Labhart made 11 good hits, Madelyn Kelly five, and Avery Deom three.

    Labhart and Kelly each had four assists and each made one kill.

    Orleans won the eighth grade match 14-25, 25-23, 15-9 despite four kills by Perry Central’s Kelly Cash.

    Emily Parker served 11 aces for Perry Central and Maggie Cunningham and Jadyn Smith each added two.
