  • Tri-State Maintenance stops...

    TELL CITY – Amber Taylor went 4 for 4 as Tri-State Service & Maintenance beat Smitty’s Memorial Team 10-9 Thursday to clinch the Tell City Women’s Softball League regular-season title.
    Tri-State improved to 7-1 while Smitty’s slipped to 6-2. Each has one game remaining, but Tri-State would win the tie-breaker because it beat Smitty’s two out of three times.

  • Seibert, Rowe help Rockport to...

    ROCKPORT – Tell City graduate Dayne Seibert continued his strong summer for Rockport's American Legion baseball team, driving in three runs in Post 254’s 15-2 rout of Boonville Tuesday.
    Seibert drove in one run with a single and two more with a groundout.
    Jared Lauer added three RBIs and Kobe Stephens reached base five times, helping lead Rockport to a 13-run win.
    Seibert had another RBI and C.J. Rowe improved to 4-0 on the mound, as Rockport defeated Jasper 11-4 Wednesday night.

    ST. LOUIS – The Tell City Marksmen traveled to St. Louis June 20 to participate in the 2013 National Archery in the Schools Program world championship tourney. Organizers said 2,907 participants shot there.

  • Beard, Zuelly make All-SW Indiana

    EVANSVILLE - Tell City’s Spenser Beard and Trent Zuelly were named to the Evansville Courier & Press’ All-Southwestern Indiana baseball team Sunday.

    Beard, selected as one of the team’s three starting outfielders, led Tell City with a .451 batting average, 31 runs scored and a school-record 28 stolen bases.

    He tied Trent Rainey for the Marksmen’s RBI lead with 22.

  • Princeton crushes rusty Express...

    LINCOLN CITY - Princeton dominated a rusty Hoosier Express team in all aspects of a 13-2 Senior Legion baseball rout Sunday.

    Playing its first game in a week, the Express fell behind almost instantly, as Post 25 scored twice in the first inning and pulled ahead 6-0 after four.

    After reaching third base on two errors and a fielders choice, Reid Johnson got the Express on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning when he scored on a wild pitch, cutting the deficit to 6-1.

  • Goffinet receives KWC awards

    OWENSBORO, Ky. — Tell City graduate Lauren Goffinet was named to the Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Academic Team for the 2012-13 year, the fourth year in a row that she made it.

    Goffinet, a May graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College where she starred in women’s basketball, was one of a record 53 Wesleyan student-athletes to earn the honor this year.

    She was one of only two to do so for the fourth time, joining volleyball player Sarah Pedigo from Trimble County, Ky.

  • Spinner resigns as TC’s coach

    TELL CITY — Angie Spinner has resigned as Tell City’s boys and girls varsity swim coach, saying she cannot do that job well while devoting time to getting her master’s degree.

    Spinner, who came to Tell City last fall, plans to remain as a special education teacher at William Tell Elementary and said, “In order to keep my job I have to get a master’s degree in moderate to several special education.”
