TELL CITY — On Tuesday, Jan. 2, the Tell City Common Council held its first meeting of the New Year at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Officials attending the meeting were councilmen Larry Kleeman, Brian Steen, Phillip Simpson, Mike Finley, and Gerald Yackle. Mayor Chris Cail, Clerk-Treasurer Connie Berger, and City Attorney Jeff Hagedorn were also present. Mayor Cail referenced the meeting agenda and called the meeting to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and adoption of the Jan. 2 agenda. Prior meeting minutes were approved which was followed by committee and ward reports.

In following the agenda, the Ward 1Report from Councilman Kleeman discussed previous action concerning the Carolyn Barr property. That matter is unresolved. Further items to reports included contact from two constituents requesting 4-way stop signs be installed versus the existing 2-way stop signs at Humboldt and 11th. A study shows a high number of vehicles and pedestrians at this intersection. This item was put on agenda for the Feb. 5 meeting. A recommendation will be sought from the Board of Works to address the sidewalk in the 500 block of Main Street. The streets condition there represents a possible risk of tripping. Technically, sidewalks are the responsibility of the property owners, but the recent sidewalk improvement project would justify a review of which party is responsible for the improvements.
