• United Way supports Perry County’s seniors

On behalf of the Perry County Council on Aging, I would like to sincerely thank the United Way of Perry County for all the support in the past and present to our organization.  Our organization provides transportation to all Perry County residents and services to senior citizens at our senior center, called the OAKS, located in Cannelton.

  • FOP lodge’s Jeep ride a rip-roaring success
  • Taxpayers can no longer afford county workers’ Cadillac insurance plan

At a time when local governmental bodies throughout our nation are struggling with their budgets, cost-cutting becomes a central issue. But not in Perry County.

County commissioners, county council and all county employees enjoy a Cadillac health plan that would be the envy of local governments anywhere. They get fat-cat insurance and you and I pay the bill.

  • United Way’s support helps local families

Perry Central Family Outreach is proud to be one of the many community agencies to receive funds from the United Way of Perry County.

Family Outreach facilitates and sponsors a variety of programs and projects year round to help the families of Perry County obtain the skills they need to succeed and to assist at risk families.

United Way funding helps us in these endeavors.

  • Thanks for making stuff the bus a success

Annually, in July, United Way sponsors and organizes a Stuff the Bus event held at Wal-Mart. Volunteers from local schools assist at the event to promote our efforts in collecting school supplies for students in need.

There are very generous patrons who donate school supplies, whether it be one item or a sack full of items. Any donation is greatly appreciated.

  • Mayor should address alley issue

I would like to take a minute to say thank you to our mayor. I went to speak to her about five weeks ago about an alley falling in on the 1100 block off 11th Street in Tell City.

She was not in her office, but she did call me at my home to agree with me that something needed to be done about this problem. She was going to call me back the next week to talk to me about this problem.

She is aware the street department has tried to repair this problem several times. I am still waiting for her call.

  • What are candidates thoughts on annexation?

It looks like the annexation situation will not be resolved during the present administration. So I think we should ask questions of the candidates.

  • Women’s softball league says thanks

The Tell City Women’s Softball League would like to thank everyone who helped make its 2015 season another successful one:

    • Team sponsors Alpine House, Cash Waggner & Associates, EverBody’s Fun & Fitness Center, Medcalf Construction and Tri-State Service & Maintenance

  • Perry County Museum Edelweiss Ball a huge success

On behalf of the Perry County Museum members and the board of directors, I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who attended the second annual Edelweiss Ball and to the businesses and industries for their gracious support of the  museum’s number one fundraising event.
