  • School board filing season begins Wednesday


    TELL CITY – Perry County voters heading to the polls this November will decide races other than those for president, senator and governor. They’ll also fill two school board seats each at Tell City-Troy Township, Cannelton and Perry Central Community school corporations.

  • Cannelton School Board fires teacher

    CANNELTON – Cannelton School Board members fired another teacher at a regular meeting Thursday, but for a different reason than was previously communicated to her.

    Board member Cory Faulkenberg read from a prepared motion to cancel English teacher Donna Bryan’s contract.

    BOONVILLE – The 66th annual Lewis-Osborn(e) reunion will be Sunday at the Alcoa Clubhouse.

    TELL CITY – Perry County’s commissioners approved Wednesday a rezoning request that sent an overflow crowd, for the third time, to meetings on the issue.

  • Perry Central to host annual back-to-school cookout Aug. 2

    LEOPOLD – The annual Perry Central back-to-school cookout will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 in the school cafetorium.
    It will feature “getting ready for school” booths and activities hosted by school and community organizations and businesses.
    There will be entertainment by the Perry Central band during the cookout, bus rides for new preschoolers and the Perry Central cheerleaders will perform.

    William tell announces back-to-school information
    TELL CITY – All kindergarten through sixth-grade parents are asked to visit William Tell Elementary during bookstore-registration hours in August. Parents can also register online through Harmony.
    Book rental fees and updating student information can all be done during bookstore hours and on Harmony. Hours are as follows: from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 7; from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8 and 9.

  • Cooper named to IU Southeast dean’s list

    NEW ALBANY – Heather Nicole Cooper has earned a spot on the spring 2012 dean’s list at Indiana University Southeast. This is her fourth appearance on the IU Southeast dean’s list.

    She is a junior nursing major and a 2010 graduate of Perry Central High School.
    Cooper is the daughter of Kurt and Carla Cooper of Tell City and Paula Cooper of Leopold.
