    Spring break trip for Tell City seniors

  • Annual Drug, Alcohol Awareness Poster Contest end Friday

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County prosecutor’s office announces the annual poster contest open to all Perry County students in kindergarten through seventh grades begins Wednesday and ends Friday. Letters have been sent to Tell City, Perry Central and Cannelton schools with the official rules to begin the contest. The office staff have asked schools to choose the four best pos-ters from each grade level and submit them to the prosecutor’s office for judging.

  • Wrestling fundraiser Saturday

    LEOPOLD – A TSW wrestling event fundraiser will be held Saturday at Perry Central High School. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and bell time will be at 7 p.m.

  • Memorial poppy sales begin Thursday

    TELL CITY – The red crepe-paper poppy will be offered for distribution by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 213 Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Noble’s IGA, Cash Saver and Wal-Mart.
    Serving locally as the 2013 chairperson for American Legion Poppy Days is Shelley Howland.
    For more 89 years, the American Legion Auxiliary has distributed the memorial poppy to remind Americans that millions sacrificed their lives and health to keep our nation strong and free.

  • Senior awards program Sunday in Tell City

    TELL CITY – Tell City Junior-Senior High School will host its annual senior awards program at 1 p.m. Sunday in the school auditorium.
    In addition to awarding scholarships, other prestigious honors will be presented. All graduates and their families, along with community members, students and staff, are invited and encouraged to attend this event.
    All organizations in the area awarding local scholarships and who wish to participate in the program are asked to contact Lisa Noble in the guidance department at 547-9715 or send email to lisan@tellcity.k12.in.us.

  • Treats at Tom’s

    Tom’s Circle S owners Dot and Tom Marchand pose with the preschool and kindergarten classes of Cannelton.

    Every year, the couple treats the entire elementary student body and staff to a Slushie and snack treat at the end of the school year.

  • Community invited to CVB grand-opening festivities Saturday

    The Perry County Convention and Visitors Bureau will host a grand opening and open house for its new office and gift shop Saturday. The celebration marks National Tourism Week.

    OWENSBORO, Ky. – Prep work for painting the KY 2262 Ohio River “Blue Bridge” in downtown Owensboro, Ky., continues with overnight closures of the bridge.
