  • ISU announces spring dean’s list

    TERRE HAUTE – Indiana State University has announced its dean’s list for the 2013 spring semester. Students from Perry County recognized for academic achievement include Kelsie Bland, Ryan Henrickson and Justin Sabelhaus, all of Tell City.

    To be eligible for the dean’s list at Indiana State, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

  • Job fair at Schergens Center Tuesday

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will host a job fair with area businesses Tuesday. The job fair will be held at the Schergens Center from 1 to 6 p.m.

    All interested businesses are invited to set up booths promoting employment in their companies.

    Booth rental for chamber members is $100 for large employers and $50 for small employers; for non-members it is $200 for large employers and $100 for small employers.

    The job fair is free to educational institutions, workforce development agencies and local government.

  • First Baptist VBS June 24-28

    TELL CITY – Tell City First Baptist Church invites children to attend vacation Bible school from June 24 through June 28. The theme this year is “Kingdom Rock: Where Kids Stand Strong for God.”

  • Free summer-food service at Cannelton

    CANNELTON – Cannelton City Schools plans to sponsor a free summer food service program for individuals younger than 18 years old. It will be held at Cannelton High School cafeteria.

    The program will begin today and end July 27. No meals will be served July 4-5. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch will be from 11 a.m. to noon.

  • We the Youth accepting applications for 2013-14

    PERRY COUNTY – We The Youth of Perry County is currently taking applications for the 2013-14 program year. We The Youth of Perry County is a leadership program for students who will be freshmen for the upcoming school year. 

    The program includes a variety of activities, including a kickoff retreat and monthly meetings.

    The meetings are usually conducted from 6 to 8:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month.

  • Goffinet earns degree from Kentucky Wesleyan

    OWENSBORO, Ky. – Lauren Goffinet, a 2009 graduate of Tell City High School and the daughter of Chris and Darla Goffinet of Tell City, graduated summa cum laude from Kentucky Wesleyan College May 9.

  • And-Tro water-line flushing begins today

    GATCHEL – And-Tro Water Authority will begin flushing mains today with the work continuing several days until all mains are flushed.

    Due to the possibility of discolored water, customers are encouraged to use caution when doing laundry.

  • Marching Marksmen season kicks off June 24

    TELL CITY – A mandatory meeting for all members of the 2013 Tell City High School Marching Marksmen, including parents and guardians, is set for 6 p.m. June 24 in the school cafeteria.

    The calendar and other information will be shared. Signups for T-shirts, yard signs and car window decals will also be available. Sign-up for booster activities will also be held.
