    TELL CITY – Twilight Towers tenants held their monthly meeting May 15 with President Joyce Richardt presiding.
    The May birthdays are Nancy Lyons, Mary Ann Weatherholt, Justin Baysinger, Omia Linne, Mary Holpp, Mag Karney, Raymond Greathouse, Virgie Hubert, McKinley Roberts, Kathleen Ludwig, Joyce Richardt, Betty Kessans, Cheryl Tanzey, Bud Richardt and Lester Solbrig.
    The tenants would like to thank everyone who attended the Twilight Towers annual yard sale May 11. They said it was much appreciated. The quilt raffle winner was Terry Fuchs.

  • Aubrey Mae Schnell

    Kenneth Cody and Amanda Schnell of Saint Anthony announce the birth of their daughter, Aubrey Mae Schnell Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    The mother is the former Amanda Hasenour.
    Grandparents are Gary and Dolores Hasenour of Celestine, Keith Schnell of Louisville, Ky., and Kim Esarey of Bristow. Great-grandparents are Kenneth and Diana LaGrange and Alvina Schnell.

  • Knights’ annual Tootsie Roll drive starts Friday

    TELL CITY – Tell City Knights of Columbus Council 1172 will accept donations for its Tootsie Roll drive for the mentally challenged citizens of Perry County Friday and Saturday.

    Bob Hackle and Terry Schaefer are co-chairing the event and encourage the public to donate at one of four locations: Tell City Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, Noble’s IGA, Fifth Third and Cash Saver.
    All money raised stays in Perry County.

  • David and Bessie Werne

    David and Bessie Werne of St. Meinrad will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at 5 p.m. June 15, 2013, with a Mass at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. A celebration will follow the Mass for invited guests. Invitations have been sent.

    Mr. Werne married the former Bessie Phelps June 1, 1963, at St. Meinrad Cath-olic Church. Attendants were Dalene (Pekingpaugh) Arnett, Carolyn (Anderson) Etienne, Martha (Werne) Tempel, Mary Werne, Dennis Werne and the late Darrel Phelps.
    The couple has one son, Barry Werne of Evansville, and two grandsons.

  • Police canine’s nose leads to arrest

    CANNELTON – A Cannelton woman was arrested May 22 after a traffic stop led to discovery of marijuana, police said. 

  • Six-county development plan available for review

    FERDINAND – A Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is prepared by Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission to analyze the local conditions of the six-county region and define goals and objectives of the district.

  • Tell City Depot dedication is June 7; you’re invited

    An official dedication ceremony for the Tell City Depot is scheduled for 3 p.m. June 7. Lt. Gov. Sue Ellsperman is expected to be on hand for the event. Watch for more information in Monday’s edition. The public is encouraged to attend. The depot was constructed with a mix of proceeds from a city Neighborhood Stabilization Program grant, forgivable loan and a separate grant. It was constructed without city tax funds and has been leased to the Perry County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

  • Memorial Day 2013

     Veterans groups from around the county again took part in visits to local cemeteries where veterans are buried. Sunday’s Memorial Day weekend events included a joint American Legion-Veterans of Foreign Wars service in City Hall Park in Tell City.
