  • Chrisney HS 1956

    The Chrisney High School Class of 1956 held its 57th reunion at the Patio in Tell City June 1 with 15 classmates present.

    They are, in the front from the left, Charlotte (Fleischman) Weber, Marjorie (Graham) Mullem, Marie (Rhoades) Kundard and Marjorie (Taylor) Price. In the second row are Ruth (Hall) Terry, Judy (Engelbrecht) Sweeney, Barbara (Shourds) Woelfl and Laverne (Hughes) Williams. In the back are Kenny Phillips, Jim Shelby, Glen Meyer, Jim Stevens SR, Earl Sibrel, Loren Atkinsons, Ralph Davis and Ronnie McDowell.

    Wheeler family
    BRISTOW – The Wheeler family reunion will be at 11 a.m. June 29 at St. Isidore hall in Bristow.
    A carry-in meal will be at noon. Tea, lemonade, cups, plates, utensils and napkins will be provided.

    VBS at Deer Creek
    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church in Tell City will host its summer vacation Bible school, “Kingdom Rock,” from Sunday through June 28 at the church.
    Experiments, games, snacks, music and more is planned for participating children.
    Each session will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and children in kindergarten through sixth grades are welcome to attend.

  • Immaculate Conception Church to host annual barbecue picnic

    HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 115 Main St., Hawesville, will host its annual barbecue picnic July 13.
    Pork, mutton, chicken and burgoo will be available for carry out beginning at noon. Serving for the picnic will begin at 3:30 p.m. Barbecue will be available as sandwiches or dinners.
    An air-conditioned hall will be available for patrons to dine in.
    The event will include fun booths and games for everyone. A flea market will open at 7 a.m.

  • Patoka Lake Sprint Triathlon Aug. 24

    BIRDSEYE – Registration is open for the Patoka Lake Triathlon taking place at Patoka Lake beach Aug. 24. All proceeds from this event will go to support Patoka’s nonreleasable raptors; a red-tailed hawk and eastern screech owl. With your help, the staff may also be able to save the life of a bald eagle by acquiring a nonreleasable eagle for Patoka’s raptor education program.

  • Simpson – Bryant

    Rick and Dorothy Simpson of Tell City announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jennifer Simpson, to Lucas Bryant of Tell City, the son of David and Greta Bryant of Tell City.

    The bride-elect is a 2011 graduate of Perry Central and will graduate from Indiana University Southeast in May 2014. She is majoring in special education.
    Mr. Bryant is a 2011 graduate of Perry Central and majoring in criminal justice at Owensboro Community and Technical College. He works at Meggitt Production Systems.

  • Wilson – Gengelbach

    Jenna Wilson and Kevin Gengelbach were united in marriage during an evening ceremony at the Discovery Lodge in Burdette Park in Evansville Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013.

    The bride is the daughter of Lin and Teri Staples of St. Wendel. Mr. Gengelbach is the son of Lee and Libby Gengelbach of Tell City.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father and her son, Miles Wilson in the double-ring ceremony officiated by the Rev. Andy Payton.

  • Tyler Edward Etienne

    Adam and Nicole Etienne of Louisville, Ky., announce the birth of their son, Tyler Edward Etienne, Friday, May 10, 2013, at Suburban Hospital in Louisville.
    The infant weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce and was 201/2 inches long.
    Mrs. Etienne is the former Nicole Meiman. Tyler has one older brother, Alex, 3.
    Grandparents are Joe and Esnoe Meiman of Louisville and Fred and Nancy Etienne of Magnet.

  • Jayce Logan Terry

    Logan and Brittany Terry of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Jayce Logan Terry, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Terry is the former Brittany Persinger. Jayce has two older twin brothers, Noah and Landon Terry, 6.
    Grandparents are Patrick and Debbie Terry of Tell City, Kelly Terry of Tell City, Charlotte Persinger and John Waninger of Tell City and Rick and Barbara Persinger of St. Anthony.
