    Will you vote in next month’s election?

    Many of us will. In fact, well over 1,500 county people have already cast ballots in early voting.

    Others of us will turn out Nov. 6 to choose from the men and women who want to represent us in several important posts, including county sheriff, prosecutor, auditor, clerk, coroner, state senator, state representative and Congress.

    Those are important positions as they impact the direction of local, state and federal government.

    VFW dinners each Tuesday

     

    TELL CITY – The Tell City VFW will hold a dinner every Tuesday in October, serving from 3 to 7 p.m. Meals will cost $5.50 and include pulled pork sandwich with choice of mild, hot or regular barbecue sauce with baked beans, potato salad, and a side of onion and pickle.

  • Winter story times set

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Public Library will host  a series of winter storytimes, running from Nov. 27 through Dec. 20. Programs will take place at both the Tell City and Cannelton locations.  Registration will begin Oct. 29 and can be done by calling the Tell City location at (812) 547-2661.  Storytime programs are as follows:

    Tuesday evenings, 6-7 p.m. – Tell City (3 years through 6 years)

    Wednesday mornings, 10-10 a.m. – Tell City (birth through 2 years)

  • Dauby-Palmer

    Myra Michelle Dauby and Christian Charles Wyatt Palmer were united in marriage in a double-ring ceremony on Sept. 22, 2018, at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, Calif.

    The bride is the daughter of Mike and Cindy Dauby of Tell City. Mr. Palmer is the son of Bill and Susan Palmer of Stevenson Ranch, Calif.

    The ceremony was officiated by Jenny Richter of Tell City, aunt of the bride.

    PERRY COUNTY – The race for Indiana District 74 features incumbent Republican Stephen Bartels, seeking election to a full term, and Democrat Larry Kleeman, who ran against former State Rep. Lloyd Arnold in 2016. District 74 includes all of Perry and Crawford counties and portions of Dubois, Spencer and Orange counties.

  • Council imposes hiring freeze through March

    TELL CITY – Following substantial cuts to the 2019 county budget, the Perry County Council is imposing a freeze on departmental hiring. The stay will be in effect until March 31.
