    Throughout the county, evergreens sagged and vulnerable hardwood branches broke under the weight of nearly a quarter-inch of ice in some areas.

    A Brighta-ma-lighter was identified as a device that provides sunlight in the author’s “The Tree Doctor.”

    TELL CITY – New options came to light concerning Can-Clay property up for sale, Perry County Commissioner Tom Hauser said at a regular meeting Feb. 3.

  • Cannelton man accused of molesting child

    CANNELTON – A Cannelton man was lodged in the Perry County Jail Saturday after police charged him for allegedly molesting a child.

    According to Cannelton Patrolmen Micah Jackson and Roger Smith, officers began investigating an alleged sexual abuse case Friday.  Throughout the investigation, officers learned an adult male had engaged in sexual acts against a child less than 14 years old.

    Christopher J. Gray, 30, of 312 Cavender St. was arrested Saturday without incident and charged with child molesting, a Class B felony.

    TELL CITY – Sixteen people are seeking to become the next superintendent of Tell City-Troy Township Schools. While the names of candidates won’t be released, school trustees on Tuesday voiced pleasure in both the number of applicants and the qualifications they bring.

  • Kohnert second in rebounding at Lewis and Clark

    GODFREY, Ill.—Tell City graduate Chris Kohnert has helped Lewis and Clark Community College’s men’s basketball team to a 9-12 record this season as the team’s starting small forward.

    Kohnert, a 6-foot-7 sophomore, is second on the team with 4.8 rebounds per game and third in steals with 1.0 per game.
    He is averaging 6.9 points per game and hitting 45.1 percent from the field and 69.8 percent at the free-throw line.
