    Deer Creek Baptist up coming events
    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church’s youth group will travel to Holiday World Aug. 24 for the second annual Rock the World Christian music fest. This year’s headliner is Grammy-award and multi-GMA Dove award winner Switchfoot. Other acts will include Kutless, Audio Adrenaline and Indiana native Adam Cappa.
    The church’s Talk, Pray, Walk group meets every Thursday evening at Sunset Park in Tell City to walk the greenway. All are invited to join.

  • Strong Bodies, Safe Families 5K Oct. 5

    MILLTOWN – Southwestern Indiana Child Advocacy Center Coalition and Crawford County’s Prevent Child Abuse Chapter announce their collaboration in hosting the area’s first “Strong Bodies, Safe Families” 5K walk-run starting at the Milltown Elementary School at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 5.
    This event is scheduled to take place during Domestic Violence Prevention Month and proceeds will benefit  

  • Free folk choir concert Sept. 13

    FERDINAND – The University of Notre Dame Folk Choir will perform at the monastery church of the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand at 8 p.m. EDT Sept. 13.
    This choir, with more than 60 members, has traveled the world and brought their repertoire to thousands of people. Each Sunday during the academic year they can be heard at mass in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on Notre Dame’s campus.

  • Republican party gas card winners announced

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Republicans drew winners of two gas cards at their Schweizer Fest booth during the city’s festival last week.
    Nancy Myers and Richard Northerner, both of Tell City, were the winners.

    The Perry County Democrats drew the winner of a $50 gas card giveaway Aug. 10 during Tell City’s Schweizer Fest. Pictured drawing the name, from the left, Mandy Mogan, Will Mogan and Jody French. The winner was Clyde Howell of Tell City.

  • Seufert Construction expands engineering, design-build team

    FERDINAND – Seufert Construction has announced hiring of Andy Hagedorn as director of engineering and development. 

    Hagedorn, a native of Ferdinand, is a licensed professional engineer with previous experience working for INDOT and for the past seven years has served as director of facilities for Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.  
    Hagedorn will over-see the strategic  development and implementation of engineering, design and overall business growth initiatives for the company.

    Car show, carnival at Oakwood Friday
    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City will host a car show and carnival community event from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday.

  • Noted bowhunter, author to speak at library Saturday

    TELL CITY – Award-winning outdoor writer M.R. James, a member of the national Archery Hall of Fame and editor and founder of BowHunter Magazine, will be at the Perry County Public Library-Tell City branch from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
    He will share personal hunting and writing stories, as well as offer advice, answer questions and sign copies of his latest book, “Hunting the Dream,” a memoir which takes readers on what he says is an unforgettable storybook journey from his small-town roots to his current role as national spokesman for archers.

  • Cub Scouts sign up Wednesday at WTE

    TELL CITY – Tell City Cub Scout Pack 192 will have sign ups for first- through fifth-grade boys at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the William Tell Elementary School café.

  • Luke David Blanchard

    Alicia and Paul Blanchard of Little Rock, Ark., announce the birth of their son, Luke David Blanchard, Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Little Rock Baptist Hospital.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long.
    Mrs. Blanchard is the former Alicia Schaefer. Luke has one older sister, Alexis, 1.
    Grandparents are Al and Vickie Schaefer of Tell City and Barbara and Paul Blanchard of Birmingham, Ala. Great-grandparents are Norma-Jean Brinksneader and Jeanette Schaefer.
