    Breakfast fundraiser at Twilight Towers
    TELL CITY – Twilight Towers will have a breakfast fundraiser at 6 a.m. Saturday in the dining room at 1648 10th Street in Tell City.

  • Masons earn Lewis Jewels

    Archie Smallwood, Ray Windell and Rob Ellnor presented Lewis Jewels to fathers, sons and grandfathers with three generations in attendance Saturday at the Branchville Lodge 496.

  • Mt. Zion Christian Church welcomes new minister, to celebrate homecoming

    SANTA CLAUS – Mt. Zion Christian Church in Santa Claus would like to introduce Brother Richard Puryear as the congregation’s new minister. Puryear assumed the position this past June.

  • Church sponsored 5-K, 10-K Sept. 21

    TELL CITY – Tell City’s First United Methodist Church will host its first Miles 4 Missions 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer run-walk Sept. 21 to raise money for the congregation’s mission work.
    The event will begin at 8 a.m. at the back parking lot at the church, located at 702 10th St.
    Cost is $20 and participants can register until 7:45 a.m. race day but must register by Friday to be guaranteed a T-shirt. Participants can pick up shirts from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 20 or on the morning of the race.

    St. Pius fall fest Sunday
    TROY – St. Pius Catholic Church in Troy will have its annual fall festival Sunday.
    On the menu will be the “famous soup” by the bowl and gallon, fried chicken or roast-beef dinners, hamburgers, polish sausage, ice cream and homemade pie. 
    Entertainment will include the Crosswinds band, a large yard sale, games for adults and children and a raffle. 
    Serving will begin at 11. Those purchasing carry-out soup are asked to take their own container.

  • Belly-dancing class at library

    TELL CITY – Leah Robling will present a free introductory belly dancing class from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Perry County Public Library Tell City branch.
    Robling will talk about the history of middle-eastern dancing, introduce traditional drum rhythms and teach some dance movements to go along with the drum patterns.
    The class will close with slow movement connecting breath and body for relaxation.
    The public is invited to attend. For more information, contact the library at 547-2661.

  • Reunions, Sept. 5 issue

    HHHS 1973
    SANTA CLAUS – The Heritage Hills High School Class of 1973 will have its 40-year class reunion Saturday at the Holiday Village Recreation Center in Santa Claus.
    The event will be held from 5 to midnight with dinner being served at 6 p.m. Cost is $15 per person.
    A class picture will be taken at about 5:45.

  • Hoesli family reunion

    The Hoesli family held a reunion Aug. 4 with more than 150 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren of Clarence and Marie Hoesli attending.

  • Marksmen fall to No. 11 Floyd Central, Jasper

    FLOYDS KNOBS—Floyd Central, ranked 11th in the state, had all four of its scorers shoot in the 40s as it beat Tell City 181-243 in girls golf Monday.
    Addison Peter shot 50 to lead Tell City.
    Alex Lawalin shot 63, Jenny Hess 64, and Mary Grace Alvey 66 to complete the Marksmen’s scoring.
    Vanessa Hess and Lindsey Presley, who each shot 68, also played for Tell City.
    Floyd Central’s Megan Striegel shot 44 for medalist honors.
    No one shot below 62 for Tell City Tuesday in a 230-277 road loss to Jasper.
