  • Fun Horse Show set for Saturday

    The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will host a fun horse show Saturday at 5 p.m. All profits will be donated to the Perry County 4-H Horse and Pony Club.

    VFW selling pork-chop dinners Saturday
    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host a pork-chop dinner Saturday at the post home in Tell City.
    Meals will include a pork chop, baked potato and slaw. Serving will begin at 10:30 a.m. and cost is $7.50 each.

    Bake sale Friday at Old National
    TELL CITY – Old National Bank in Tell City will host a bake sale Friday to raise funds for the March of Dimes.
    Items will be available during normal banking hours.

  • Three join community foundation’s board

    The Perry County Community Foundation recently welcomed three new board of trustee members,  Lee Chestnut, Debbie Elder and Cheri Taylor.

  • Benefit auction, set for dance Saturday

    TELL CITY – The friends and family of Larry Taylor will host a benefit auction and dance to help raise funds for his medical  bills and expenses.
    The event will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Tell City American Legion Post on Indiana 66.
    Admission will be $15 per person or $25 per couple.
    There will be live music by “Good Ole Boys,” food and a cash bar.
    Cash donations may be made at Fifth Third Bank in Tell City to the “Benefit of Larry Taylor” account.
    Taylor has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

  • Rome firefighters’ hog roast Sunday

    ROME – The Rome Volunteer Fire Department will host a hog roast Sunday at the Rome Community Center.
    Church services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and a hog roast meal will start at 11:30. Dinner will include pork, creek fries, green beans, slaw, bread and choice of tea, lemonade or coffee.
    A country store will also be open to visitors. Items being sold include baked goods, crafts, canned goods and more. Entertainment will be provided from noon to 4 p.m. by the Country Sunshine Band with Darrell Toomey and group of Owensboro, Ky.

  • Lindsey – Simpson

    Jamie Nicole Lindsey and Phillip Arthur Simpson of Hawesville, Ky., announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Patrick and Dana Lindsey of Hawesville. She is a graduate of Henderson Community College and works as a registered nurse at Owensboro Health.
    Mr. Simpson is the son of William and Constance Simpson of Tell City. He is a graduate of Purdue University and works as a pharmacist at Wal-Mart in Tell City.

  • Donnelly to keynote Jefferson-Jackson dinner

    TELL CITY – U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly will be the key-note speaker for the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner hosted by the Perry County Democrat Central Committee Saturday. The event will be held at the Tell City Knights of Columbus. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7. Cost is $20 per person. The public is invited.

  • Claire Autumn Ames

    Shawn and Amanda Ames of Cannelton announce the birth of a daughter, Claire Autumn.
    She was delivered Aug. 14, 2013, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces and was 18 inches long.
    Claire was welcomed home by her siblings, Adaleyn, 6, and Camden, 5.
    Grandparents are Rick Flamion and Denise McCann of St. Croix; Phil and Susie Mullis of Leopold and Tim and Joyce Ames of Valparaiso. Great-grandparents are Glen and Beverly Schroeder of Tell City and Jane Flamion of Leopold.
     

  • Hedinger – Hohl

    Brittany Michele Hedinger and Alex Edgar Hohl announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Chris Hedinger and Lisa Hedinger, both of Bristow.
    A graduate of Perry Central High School and the University of Southern Indiana, she is an X-ray technologist at Harrison County Hospital.
    Mr. Hohl is the son of Dan and Bonnie Hohl of Lincoln City. He is a graduate of Heritage Hills High School and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
    He is employed at Hohl Family Farms.

    THE WILLIAM TELL Center will have their weekly dance at 7 p.m. Saturday at the center. The band 3 For All will perform.

    TWILIGHT TOWERS offers bingo and euchre games in its dining room. Bingo games are held every Wednesday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and card games are held at 6 p.m. Thursdays and the first Monday of each month. The public is invited.
