  • Officials OK car purchase

    TELL CITY – County-council members voted at a regular meeting Aug. 22 to authorize a $22,000 additional appropriation from the county’s riverboat revenue sharing fund to buy a new county vehicle.

    The request was initiated by the county commissioners, and Commissioner Tom Hauser was present to explain it.

  • Board past due in evaluating superintendent

    TELL CITY – The Tell City-Troy Township School Board has failed to conduct an evaluation of its superintendent, violating state law and its own policies.

    The board, acting on the insistence of member Sherri Flynn, agreed Tuesday to move forward with the process that will include reviewing Schools Superintendent Lynn Blinzinger’s service during the past school year and setting goals on which he will be evaluated in 2014.

  • Ellspermann to attend Saturday Celebration of Courage brunch

    SANTA CLAUS – The organizers of the Celebration of Courage say cause is extremely important. And they assure you a good time is practically guaranteed.
    On Sept. 21, Crisis Connection Inc. will host its annual brunch and silent auction in the community room at Heritage Hills Baptist Church, west of Santa Claus on Indiana 162.
    Doors will open at 9 a.m.

  • Hilgenhold completes Air Force basic cadet training in Colorado

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force Cadet John Levi Hilgenhold has completed basic cadet training and earned the rank of cadet fourth class at the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.
    Hilgenhold completed the rigorous six-week orientation program. The training prepares cadets to enter their first academic year at the academy.

  • Alzheimer’s care workshop Tuesday

    FERDINAND – Tri-State area families are invited to attend a free Alzheimer’s care training workshop that will be offered in recognition of World Alzheimer’s Month. 
    The session will be held at 7:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday at Scenic Hills, 311 E. First St., Ferdinand, and from 9 a.m. to noon EDT Sept. 28 at the Home Instead Senior Care office in Evansville.

  • GOPerry Club meeting Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – The GOPerry Club will sponsor a Saturday breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Ponderosa in Tell City. Nancy Rennie, a local employee of the Indiana Department of Child Services, will be the guest speaker.
    Everyone is welcome.
    The club will continue its monthly gatherings throughout the year with local speakers. For more information, call Gayle Strassell at 547-2262.
     

  • Wellness activities at Tell City High School

    TELL CITY – Tell City Junior-Senior High School invites the public to join the following wellness activities available at the school. These activities are paid for through the school’s Welborn Baptist Heroes grant and are free of charge.
    When attending any of the sessions, remember to check in at the office. If you are swimming, take your own towel as they are not provided.

  • Family fun night at Early Head Start

    TELL CITY – Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Early Head Start invites the public to attend a family fun night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Early Head Start Center, 321 Ninth Street, Tell City.
    Breanne Walsh of Everbody’s Fun & Fitness Center will be the guest speaker and the topic will be “Making exercise fun.” A luau with snacks, games and prizes will follow. The event will be open to parents and children birth to 3 years old.
