    CHS 1973
    CANNELTON – The 1973 graduating class of Cannelton High School will hold its 40th reunion at 6 p.m. Oct. 12, at the Iron Gate Pizza on Taylor Street in Cannelton.
    Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP so organizers will know how many to expect. Each person will pay for their own food and drinks.
    Be sure to share this information with any other classmate you may be in touch with to help get the word out.

  • Perry Central High School Class of 1963

    The Perry Central Class of 1963 held its 50th reunion at Bill and Dave’s Sept. 21.

  • Tell City’s Moose Lodge 1424 marks 100 years of fraternity, service

    Tickets are being sold for Tell City Moose Lodge 1424’s 100-year celebration Oct. 12. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and all members are encouraged to attend. Tickets are $15 each and include dinner, program and a dance.

    The event’s program will include an address from Tell City Mayor Barbara Ewing on the Moose’s community involvement, followed by the highest officer of the International Moose Association speaking on the behalf of the Moose. The organization’s governor, Jerry Malone, will also speak.  

  • GED testing available at Perry Central

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central Community School Corp. will offer GED testing to Indiana residents who need their certificate for employment, college classes or personal satisfaction.
    Two evenings are required for completion of the entire set and pre-registration is mandatory. Testing is offered on a first-come, first serve basis Oct. 21 and Oct. 22.
    Those wishing to test must be at least 16 years old and show proof of Indiana residency.
    The cost is $70 for the complete examination. For more information, contact GED chief examiner Susie Knox at 547-3347.

  • VFW picnic Sunday at Mulzer Camp

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will host its annual family picnic Sunday at Mulzer Camp west of Troy.
    Members and their families, plus the ladies and men’s auxiliary units and their families, are invited to attend.
    The post will furnish the meat, potatoes and drinks. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish or dessert.
    Dinner will begin around 12:30 p.m.

  • Wellness activities scheduled at Tell City High School in October

    TELL CITY – The following wellness activities are available, free of charge, through October from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. on the listed days at Tell City Junior-Senior High School. These programs are available through the Welborn Heros grant. Those attending these activities are asked to sign in at the school office.
    The classes are listed by date, activity and area where the class will be held:
    Today, lap swimming, TCJSHS pool
    Oct. 8, pilates, auxiliary gym
    Oct. 9, Tai Chi-mixed martial arts, Bryan Taylor arena

  • Benedictine Hills youth pilgrimage planned for Oct. 19 in St. Meinrad

    ST. MEINRAD – The men’s and women’s Benedictine communities of Saint Meinrad Archabbey and Monastery Immaculate Conception are co-sponsoring a youth pilgrimage for Oct. 19.
    The day’s events will begin at noon at the Archabbey Church of Saint Meinrad Archabbey. Following a brief prayer for pilgrims, the group will walk the six miles along country roads to Monastery Immaculate Conception.
    Pilgrims will arrive at the Monastery Church at Ferdinand for Vespers at 5 p.m., followed by a cookout with members of both monastic communities.

  • Emmanuel Lutheran supper set for Oct. 12

    TELL CITY – Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 12th and Pestalozzi streets in Tell City, will hold its annual soup supper Oct. 12.
    Carry out soup will be available at 3 p.m. outside the church. Those carrying out soup are asked to take their own containers. Serving in the dining room will begin at 4:30 p.m.
    Barbecue chicken dinners, crick fried potatoes, slaw, cakes and pies will also be served.
    A bake sale and country store will be set up as well. All are welcome to attend.

    Church hosts weekly Celebrate Recovery gatherings
    TELL CITY – Community Christian Church in Tell City hosts a weekly program titled Celebrate Recovery. Meetings begin each Tuesday at 7 p.m. and are free to attend.

    Evangelist will help celebrate homecoming
    TELL CITY – Tell City Pentecostal Church will welcome Tennessee evangelist Paul Pinnick during a homecoming celebration Friday through Sunday.

  • Local libraries to celebrate Teen Read Week

    PERRY COUNTY – In celebration of Teen Read Week Oct. 13 through Oct. 19, the unofficial “Hunger Games Young Adult Survival Skills Program” will be presented at the Perry County Public Library-Tell City branch.
    From 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 15, Creek Stewart, who lives in Anderson and owns Wilderness Survival School, or one of his primitive skills instructors will teach young adults 10 to 18 years of age survival skills based on the strategies from the Hunger Games series.
