  • Koch family purchases Alabama waterpark

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Koch family from Spencer County, including Dan Koch and his sister, Natalie, has acquired Alabama’s Splash Adventure Waterpark and will re-open the park for the 2014 summer season.

    Dan Koch, who led the acquisition, said he is bringing his family’s seven decades of experience in the amusement and water park industry to his new home in Alabama.

  • Science team finishes strong

    Perry Central Elementary’s sixth-grade science team finished in fourth-place in their state division this year out of 20 teams. The competition consisted of an individual round, a team round and an experimental round. The experimental round focused on the subject of weathering.

  • Preschoolers pedal for St. Jude’s

    Students at Stepping Stones Preschool participated in a St. Jude Trike-a-thon. Students raised a total of $2,500 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The top three fundraisers, Frankie Faust, Rylee Parr, and Ava Labhart, received a prize sponsored by Waupaca Foundry.

    Horseman’s Club euchre tourney Saturday
    TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will hold euchre tourneys Saturdays March 15 and March 29 at the club home.  
    The doors will open at 6 p.m. and games will begin at 7 p.m. The public is invited.

  • Wright – Aldridge

    Shelby Lynn Wright of Tobinsport and Brandon Scott Aldridge of Ferdinand announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Sean and Theresa Wright of Tobinsport. She is a 2009 graduate of Perry Central High School and a 2013 graduate of the University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse in the nursery unit of Owensboro Regional Hospital.

    Mr. Aldridge is the son of Scott and Sheila Aldridge of Ferdinand.

  • Wagoner – Esarey

    Mr. and Mrs. Jerry and Bea Wagoner of Hillsboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Jill Ann Wagoner, to David Joseph Esarey.

    The groom is the son of Joe Esarey of Tell City and Linda Koziatek of Magnet. The engaged couple is employed at St. Elizabeth East Medical Center.

    The wedding will be at Trinity United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville, Ind.

  • Delbert and Patricia Vaal (Corrected)

    Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Vaal of St. Meinrad will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary April 5, 2014. A Mass of thanksgiving will be said at 2 p.m. at St. Meinrad Catholic Church.

    An open house and reception will immediately follow at the St. Meinrad Legion. The couple requests no gifts.

  • Lily Isabella Herzog

    John Paul and Nicki Rigsby Herzog announce the birth of their daughter, Lily Isabella.

    She was born March 2, 2014, in New Albany.

    Lily weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Lily has two sisters, Natalie, 8, and Emma, 2, and one brother, Nate, 7.
    Maternal grandparents are Daryl Rigsby of Cearcy, Ark., and the late Dagna Lee Roark of Cannelton.

  • Crue Stanley Edwards

    Wesley and Brittany Edwards of Oriole announce the birth of their son, Crue Stanley. He was born Dec. 6, 2013, at The Women’s Hospital in Newburgh. Crue weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Edwards is the former Brittany Pekinpaugh.

    Crue has two brothers, Cohen, 7, and Cason, 4.

    Maternal grandparents are Dennis and DeeDea Pekinpaugh of Oriole.
    Paternal grandparents are Charlene Edwards and the late Thomas Edwards of Derby.

    Great-grandparents are Geneva Johnson of Oriole and Cecil Pekinpaugh of Tell City.
