  • Rockport man arrested on child molesting charges

    SPENCER COUNTY – A Rockport man is behind bars after being charged with multiple counts of child molesting.

    On May 15, an investigation was initiated by Senior Trooper Brock Werne after allegations of child molesting were presented by Holly’s House in Evansville.  The complaint alleged that 64-year-old William Clark of Rockport had inappropriately touched three children on May 7.

  • Troopers receive new rescue tool

    The Indiana State Police recently received a lifesaving tool that will be given to every trooper working the road, thanks to a generous donation from one of their own. The resqme tool was one way for me to give back to the people of Indiana and hopefully save a life, commented Master Trooper Detective Robert May. The resqme (pronounced “rescue me”) tool is designed to brake car windows and cut seatbelts.

  • Tell City Police announce Click It or Ticket campaign results

    TELL CITY –  The Tell City Police Department announced today the completion of the national and statewide 2017 Click It or Ticket enforcement mobilization campaign. During the 24 day enforcement period, 51 tickets were written for lack of seat belt usage within the Tell City area.

    “Seat belts simply save lives,” said Officer John Allen. “The importance of wearing your seat belt is a priority, and this campaign expresses this message as well as making it a year-long reminder for all drivers and their occupants.”

  • Troopers honored for work

    INDIANAPOLIS – Two Troopers from the Jasper District were honored recently at an awards ceremony at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis.

    Senior Trooper Jarrod Lents and Trooper Jeremy Galloway were presented awards for their service to the State of Indiana.

  • Troy town board member jailed for battery

    TROY – Adam Hoffman, a member of Troy’s town council, was arrested Sunday, April 23, on a Class A misdemeanor charge of battery resulting in bodily injury.

    Hoffman allegedly was involved in an altercation that afternoon with an adult male family member at his home at 500 Main St. in Troy.

    He was taken to Perry County Detention Center by deputy Mark Poehlein before being released upon posting a bond of $1,500.

    The News contacted Hoffman Friday.

  • Seven charged in local ‘drug round-up’

    PERRY COUNTY – On April 19, the Tell City Police Department secured arrest warrants for several individuals on drug charges.

    The warrants were obtained after officers developed probable cause during an extensive drug investigation.

    The warrants were executed during a drug round-up with the Perry County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police. 

  • Police looking for alleged driver of car found crashed on Atlanta Road

    TELL CITY – Details were still sketchy Wednesday afternoon but police are still looking to question a man they said crashed a car on Atlanta Road Monday night and then fled on foot.

    Mark Ransom is sought by police and is believed to be the driver of the vehicle that triggered a police search for much of the night, officers said.

  • TCPD wraps up March enforcement campaign

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Police Department announced the completion of the March 2017 dangerous and impaired driving enforcement campaign. During the 24-day enforcement period, 118 citations and warnings were written, and five arrests were made.

  • Weekend search lands Tell City man in jail on numerous drug charges

    TELL CITY – The weekend search of a residence resulted in a Tell City man being behind bars on numerous narcotics charges, state police reported.
