• Many $1,000 Tri Kappa scholarships available to current students

    PERRY COUNTY – The State organization of Tri Kappa will award a variety of scholarships to college students throughout Indiana in the spring. Each State scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $1,000.

    Tri Kappa has provided scholarship awards since 1914 acknowledging students on the local, province and state levels. Chapters, provinces and the state organization combined, currently give nearly $500,000 annually honoring academic achievement.

    Scholarship Chair Stephanie Walsh of Tell City, is currently seeking applicants for the following:

    William Tell Elementary School released its honor rolls for the first nine weeks of the 2016-17 school year.

    Grade 2 distinguished honor roll: Claire Rose Epple, Kianna Rachelle Glynn, Kinsey Renee Glynn, Luke Matthew Hagedorn, Mary Addison Hagedorn, Hadley Paige Hayko, Sena Ghazi Hazumi, Christian Tyler Holmes, Brennen Leonnah Jones, Kynli Ryann Lambrecht, Ilynd Elizabeth Lawalin, Maddilyn Rae Lochner, William Lucas Sheldon, Brady Clark Stallings and Ollie Cecille Toothman.

    PERRY COUNTY – Three candidates are vying for two non-partisan seats on the Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. Board of Trustees. Incumbent Gregg Jarboe, 41, is hoping to retain his position with the board. He was appointed earlier this year after the resignation of former member, Larry Kleeman. Also contending for Jarboe’s spot and another being vacated by council-hopeful Randy Cole are contenders Chester “Chet” Mathena and Tony W. Thomas.

  • Edwards, Etienne running unopposed for Perry Central School Board

    LEOPOLD – Tim Edwards and Kevin Etienne are running unopposed for re-election to the Perry Central School Board.

    Edwards, 47, lives at 18752 Leopold Oriole Road and serves as a project manager for Ramsey Development. He has been a member of the board for eight years and served as its president for two. He and his wife, Dena, have two children.

  • Cannelton Elementary honor rolls released

    CANNELTON – Cannelton Elementary School released its honor rolls for the first nine weeks of the 2016-17 school year.

    First-grade honor roll: Leslie Hall.

    First-grade distinguished honor roll: Brooke Evans, Caitlyn Evans, EJ Holman, Parker Joyal, Kyla Little, Jaicey Salmon and Lily Weedman.

    Second-grade honor roll: Addyson Little and Gaige Masterson.

    Second-grade distinguished honor roll: Summer DuPont, Isaac Fuqua, Nora Lawson, Dodge Roesch and Ayla Snyder.

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central Elementary School has released its honor rolls for the first nine weeks of the 2016-17 school year.

    Third-grade distinguished: Cooper Brown, Samantha Guillaume, Logan Hall, Graison Hayes, Tayler Hill, Colton Jamniczky, Lance Kern, Tyler Kleaving, Kyra Leinenbach, Gloria Sommer, Ethan Stater, Mackenzie Straneva and Luke Zellers.

    Cannelton Junior-Senior High School has released its honor rolls for the first grading period of the first term of the 2016-17 school year.
