  • Three candidates seek TC School Board

    PERRY COUNTY – Three candidates are vying for two non-partisan seats on the Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. Board of Trustees. Incumbent Gregg Jarboe, 41, is hoping to retain his position with the board. He was appointed earlier this year after the resignation of former member, Larry Kleeman. Also contending for Jarboe’s spot and another being vacated by council-hopeful Randy Cole are contenders Chester “Chet” Mathena and Tony W. Thomas.

  • Edwards, Etienne running unopposed for Perry Central School Board

    LEOPOLD – Tim Edwards and Kevin Etienne are running unopposed for re-election to the Perry Central School Board.

    Edwards, 47, lives at 18752 Leopold Oriole Road and serves as a project manager for Ramsey Development. He has been a member of the board for eight years and served as its president for two. He and his wife, Dena, have two children.

  • Cannelton Elementary honor rolls released

    CANNELTON – Cannelton Elementary School released its honor rolls for the first nine weeks of the 2016-17 school year.

    First-grade honor roll: Leslie Hall.

    First-grade distinguished honor roll: Brooke Evans, Caitlyn Evans, EJ Holman, Parker Joyal, Kyla Little, Jaicey Salmon and Lily Weedman.

    Second-grade honor roll: Addyson Little and Gaige Masterson.

    Second-grade distinguished honor roll: Summer DuPont, Isaac Fuqua, Nora Lawson, Dodge Roesch and Ayla Snyder.

  • Perry Central Elementary honor rolls released

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central Elementary School has released its honor rolls for the first nine weeks of the 2016-17 school year.

    Third-grade distinguished: Cooper Brown, Samantha Guillaume, Logan Hall, Graison Hayes, Tayler Hill, Colton Jamniczky, Lance Kern, Tyler Kleaving, Kyra Leinenbach, Gloria Sommer, Ethan Stater, Mackenzie Straneva and Luke Zellers.

    Cannelton Junior-Senior High School has released its honor rolls for the first grading period of the first term of the 2016-17 school year.


    Grade 6 high honor roll: Gavin Melton.

    Grade 6 honor roll: Kendall Hale, Logan Larsen and Haylee Sturgeon.

    Grad 6 honorable mention: Elayna Blair and Cody Kempf.

    Grade 7 high honor roll: Janessa Sturgeon.

    Grade 7 honor roll: Jhett Garrett, Kyra Hemmings, Dylan Persohn, Devyn Powers and Austin Wiseman.

    Grade 7 honorable mention: Logan Bishop and Maggie Dawson.

  • High school students invited to learn all about trains


    PERRY COUNTY – A unique opportunity awaits a few lucky youth in grades 9-12 who are interested learning about the importance of the Hoosier Southern Railroad to Perry County. On Wednesday, Oct. 26 a limited number of youth can participate in a Railroad Adventure where they will will get a behind the scenes tour of the Perry County Port Authority, Hoosier Southern Railroad, and the Tell City River Port, and get to drive the train.
