• TCHS Class of ’19 Rising Stars

    TELL CITY – Four Tell City High School juniors, Tretter Lyons, Grace Kreilein, Chase Beckort and Elliot Reed, were recognized by The Indiana Association of School Principals as Rising Stars of Indiana Class of 2019. Each Indiana high school was invited to recognize up to four students currently in the 11th grade, based on their academic achievement.

  • Local woman among Kentucky’s top special education teachers

    OWENSBORO, Ky. – Emily Harpenau, a special education teacher at Apollo High School, is one of three finalists for the statewide Kentucky Special Education Teacher of the Year Award sponsored by the Council for Exceptional Children.

    Harpenau was recognized during the CEC annual conference on Nov. 20. Kentucky state leaders in the area of special education commended Harpenau for her outstanding work on behalf of students and for creating a positive, challenging learning environment in her classroom.

  • TC Schools’ wellness clinic opens

    TELL CITY – A health clinic provided by Perry County Memorial Hospital covering employees and their families at Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. is now open. An open house and Chamber of Commerce dedication was held Thursday at the wellness clinic located at 148 13th St.

    The hope is the new endeavor will improve the overall wellness for those covered by the corporation’s insurance, as well as get those least likely to visit a doctor into the clinic.

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central Junior-Senior High School has announced the opening of an innovative new company, called Commodore Manufacturing. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 19 to celebrate the launch of this student-led manufacturing facility.

    “We believe Commodore Manufacturing is a perfect example of innovation that can occur when education and industry sit down in the same room.  It is a powerful way to prepare students for careers in this growing field,” principal Jody French said,
