  • Open house to welcome new Purdue educator

    PERRY COUNTY – The public is invited to join in welcoming the newest member of the Purdue Extension-Perry and Spencer County teams, Holly Simpson, at a fall open house on Monday, Oct. 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. Stop by the Perry County office at 65 Park Ave. in Tell City for a tour, enjoy fall-themed refreshments, create a quick fall-themed craft and meet the new Health and Human Sciences educator in Perry and Spencer counties.

  • LifeSpring Health Systems and Southern Hills Counseling Center merge

    JASPER – LifeSpring Health Systems and Southern Hills Counseling Center announced last week they have officially merged into one organization. The organization will retain the LifeSpring Health Systems  name, and no staff or programs were changed as a result of the merger which  was effective Oct. 1.

    Staff and boards of directors of both organizations spent more than a year performing due diligence reviews and determined that the residents of  Southern Indiana could best be served by merging to a single entity. 

  • Chamber to host business ribbon cutting ceremonies Saturday

    Never Enough Tattoos

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce invites the public to a ribbon cutting and grand opening event at the new location for Never Enough Tattoo Studio located at 902 Main St., Tell City. The event will take place beginning at noon and run to 8 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 13.

    A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. The grand opening will include bands, food, tours, face painting, giveaways and fun for the entire family. 

  • Some offices closed Monday

    PERRY COUNTY – Federal, state and some local offices will be closed Monday, Oct. 8, in observance of Columbus Day. There will be no mail delivery Monday.

    Locally, Troy town offices will be closed. City offices in Tell City and Cannelton, however, will be open. County offices will also be open.

    All Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles branches will be closed Saturday, Oct. 6 through Monday, Oct. 8 in observance of the holiday. Branches resume regularly scheduled business hours on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

  • Cannelton CHARM group meeting today

    CANNELTON – The Cannelton Historic Advancement and Revitalization Movement will meet at 6 p.m. today, Sept. 27, in the ground floor of the Cannelton old gym. Director Emily Preston said she and a group of volunteers have recently cleaned and organized the rooms on the main level. She hopes the city will allow groups as well as private citizens to use the space for events and meetings. The meeting is open to anyone who wants to help Cannelton advance.

  • Harding honored by insurance society for 25-year commitment

    TELL CITY – Tim Harding of Home Mutual Insurance Co. in Tell City was recently recognized for professional leadership and advanced knowledge by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, a leading national insurance professional organization.

    Harding was awarded a certificate marking more than 25 years of leadership as a designated CIC, which requires annual completion of advanced education and training.

  • American Heart Association recognizes Kimball International for Workplace Health Achievement

    JASPER – Kimball International Inc. achieved silver level recognition by the American Heart Association for taking significant steps to build a culture of health in the workplace.  The company was honored at an event at their headquarters campus in Jasper earlier today.
