• Linda Kieser, 71

    TELL CITY – Linda Sue Kieser, 71, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills in Tell City.

    She was born in Leopold March 6, 1940. Her parents were the late Waitman “Jiggs” and Wilma (Ward) Haney.
    A 1958 graduate of Oil Township High School, Linda was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and enjoyed quilting, horse racing and going to casinos. She retired as a forewoman from Tell City Chair Co. 

  • Nelda Foerster, 76

    TELL CITY – Nelda M. Foerster, 76, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.

    She was born Jan. 21, 1935, in Bristow, daughter of the late Alva and Lizzie (Foster) McKim. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Jan Hammack and brothers Coy, Eldon and Marvin McKim.
    Nelda was united in marriage to Harold Foerster Nov. 3, 1956, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where they were members.
    A homemaker, she enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.

  • Thelma McNaughton, 96

    NEW ALBANY – Thelma L. McNaughton, 96, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at the Providence Retirement Home in New Albany.
    She was a native of Magnet and the daughter of the late Forrest and Grace McNaughton.
    She is survived by her sister, Jean M. Jackson of Clarksville and her nieces and nephews.
    A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29 (today) at the Oak Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville, 1846 E. Oak St., New Albany.
    Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    TELL CITY – Sharon LeClere, 77, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2011.

  • Aurelia Gittings, 96

    GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Aurelia Gittings, age 96, of Gainesville, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011.
    Mrs. Gittings was a retired librarian from the Perry County Library system.
    She is survived by her daughter, Judy McMahan of Lula, Ga.; her granddaughters, Molly Rooks of Gainesville and Holly McMahan of Woodstock, Ga. and her great-grandchildren, Katie and Patrick Rooks.

    DALE – Virginia Viola (Hagemeyer) Simpson, 87, of Dale, formerly of Huntingburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at the Core Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dale.
    She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Wabash County, Ill., to Charles H. and Neoma R. (Coomer) Sowder.

  • Hazel Wittman, 71

    TELL CITY – Hazel Wittman, 71, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Golden Living Center-Lincoln Hills in Tell City.

    She was born Dec. 13, 1940, to the late Charles and Alberta (Burdette) Beard.
    She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Beard.
    She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.
    Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Kreisle and her husband, Paul F. of Tell City; a brother, Paul Beard of Newburgh; a grandson, Dustin McFarland and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Davis and Jaren McFarland.

  • Kenneth Fleck, 70

    FERDINAND – Kenneth L. Fleck, 70, of Ferdinand passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

    He was born July 31, 1941, in Ferdinand to Louis and Mary Jane (Weyer) Fleck.
    Kenneth was married to Margaret “Maggie” Seger Nov. 25, 1967, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. She preceded him in death July 12, 2010.
    Kenneth was a farmer and drove a Southeast County school bus for 43 years. He was a member of the Ferdinand American Legion Post 124, the St. Ferdinand parish and its St. Joseph Sodality.

  • Ralph Kennedy, 85

    FERDINAND – Ralph A. Kennedy, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at the Scenic Hills Caring Center, Ferdinand.
    He was born in Lamar, Dec. 15, 1926, and lived there until his recent illness.
    Surviving are his wife, Helen (Renner) Kennedy; a daughter, Susan Kennedy of Antioch, Calif.; two sons, Dr. Kevin Kennedy of La-mar and Nathan Kennedy of Eth, N.J.; three grandchildren and two sisters, Margaret Vogel of Mount Vernon and Mary Ann Stein of New Castle.

  • Leonard Bolin, 87

    TELL CITY – Leonard Bolin, 87, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City.

    He was born in Perry County May 1, 1924. His parents were the late George and Ollie (Layman) Bolin.  Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Dorothy; his sisters, Edna, Katie, Elo-ise and Ida Mae and his brother, Clarence.
    Leonard was united in marriage Dec. 26, 1950, to Verona Mae Kellems. He retired after 30 years from Fischer Chair Co. and Best Chairs.
