  •  Kenneth Lain and Melissa Tanner of Cannelton would like to announce the birth of their son, Kenneth Randall-Charles Lain, born on June 4, 2018, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City. He weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Kenneth was welcomed home by siblings, Bryleigh Gieseke, age 8, and Alexzander Gieseke, age 6.

    Grandparents are Diana and Steve Sandage and Norman and Diane Lain, all of Cannelton and Tammy Tanner and the late Randall Tanner of Tell City.

  • Last Thursday, June 21, Dorothy “Dot” Kessner of Tell City received the Golden Hoosier Award during a Statehouse ceremony. Established in 2008, the award acknowledges and recognizes “an unsung hero” among the outstanding seniors for their lifetime of service to their communities. It is the highest state award bestowed on senior citizens.

  • Joshua and Kristina (Fortwendel) Scott of Tell City are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Hannah Beth, to Benjamin Elliott Partridge, son of Matthew and Lisa Partridge of Eldorado, Ill.

    Hannah is the granddaughter of James and Sandra Calvert and Dale and Linda Embry of Hawesville, Ky, and Richard and Barbara Fortwendel of New Boston. Benjamin is the grandson of Dr. Elliott and Darla Partridge and Dewain and Carolyn Barrett, all of Eldorado, Ill.

  • Stori Nicole Beard and Reese Michael Miller announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The future bride is the daughter of the Traci (Deom) Beard and granddaughter of Kenneth and Darla Deom of Tell City.

    She is a graduate of Tell City High School and earned her bachelor’s degree at Indiana University Southeast, New Albany. She is currently employed with the YMCA in Floyd County.

  • TELL CITY – Vendor registration is now open for the 10th Street Fall Fair, which will return on Saturday, Sept. 22. The cost for a 10-by-10- foot booth is $25 if secured before Sept. 7, or $30 after Sept. 7.

    Teaching through real-world example will be the preaching approach for the sermons from new senior pastor Christian Watkins at the Deer Creek Baptist Church. His approach is to explain and work through the books of the Christian Bible, applying learning within modern context, and using the verses to drive the sermons and center preaching and teaching on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • INDIANAPOLIS – Dorothy “Dot” Kessner of Tell City has been awarded the Golden Hoosier Award. Established in 2008, the Golden Hoosier Award acknowledges and recognizes “an unsung hero” among the outstanding seniors for their lifetime of service to their communities.

    Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, in collaboration with the Indiana Family and Social Service Administration’s Division of Aging, announced that 21 senior citizens will receive the 2018 Golden Hoosier Award.

  • FERDINAND – Nine Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand have celebrated the 50th anniversary of their monastic profession. They were honored on Saturday, June 2, at Monastery Immaculate Conception.

    The jubilarians, Sister Ann Francis Hillenbrand, Sister Brenda Engleman, Sister Kathy Bilskie, Sister Sharon Hollander, Sister Jeanne Ellen Niehaus, Sister Patty Lasher, Sister Laura Marie Schmitt, Sister Mary Lou Dick, and Sister Linda Campbell, entered Monastery Immaculate Conception in 1966 and professed their monastic vows in 1968.
