  • Easter worship service at Clayton Harris UMC

     

    TOBINSPORT – Clayton Harris Memorial United Methodist Church in Tobinsport invites the community to worship with its congregation on Easter Sunday. Worship will begin at 8 a.m., followed by  a pitch-in breakfast, egg hunt and Sunday School.

  • TELL CITY – Several local churches will present mid-day meditations during Holy Week, Monday, March 26, through Friday, March 30. Meditations will begin at noon and everyone is invited. Locations for the week are as follows:

    Monday, Community Christian Church

    Tuesday, First Baptist Church

    Wednesday, Evangelical United Church of Christ

    Thursday, Tell City Church of the Nazarene

    Friday, First United Methodist of Tell City.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Caitlin Smith Gilson will present the annual Thomas Lecture on Philosophy and Theology at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad.

    The lecture will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. Central Time in St. Bede Theater.

    This year’s lecture is titled “Prayer, Suffering and Self-Presence.”

  • Megan Kloeck of St. Meinrad and Jason Bennet of St. Meinrad announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    Miss Kloeck is the daughter of Thomas and Sue Ann Kloeck of St. Meinrad. She is a 2011 graduate of Heritage Hills High School, a 2014 graduate of Purdue University and a 2016 graduate of IU McKinney School of Law.  She is an attorney at Ippoliti Law Office LLC in Ferdinand.

  • TELL CITY – The Deer Creek Baptist Church cemetery committee will be removing old floral arrangements from the cemetery Saturday, March 24.

    Any floral arrangements or other items family members wish to keep should be removed before that date.

    To aid with the mowing, trimming, and as a safety measure, new flowers or figurines should be securely fastened to monuments above ground level.

    Items may also be attached to a shepherd’s hook placed next to the monuments.  

  • Frank and Mary Whalen of Tell City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 9. They were married March 9, 1968, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. 

    Frank and Mary Whalen are the parents of Charles Whalen, Mark Whalen, Teresa Barr and Cheryl Baugert. The couple also has nine grandchildren.

    Frank and Mary are both retired. Mrs. Whalen is the former Mary Jones.

  • Tim and Laura Bolin of Evanston welcomed home a daughter, Amelia Ann, born on Dec. 14, 2017, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville. Amelia weighed 6 pounds 2.9 ounces, and was 18.5 inches long.

    Amelia is welcomed by sisters, Audra Bolin, age 6; and Lyla Bolin, age 4.

    Maternal grandparents are Tom and Cathy Crossley from Troy. Paternal grandparents are Dennis Jr. and Lisa Bolin of Vance, Ala.

  • FERDINAND - Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand will offer a silent Triduum Retreat from March 29 – April 1 at the Benedictine Hospitality Center at Kordes Hall on the grounds of Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand.

    The silent retreat runs from 3 p.m. Eastern time on Holy Thursday, March 29, to 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday morning, April 1. This retreat will include participation in the liturgical celebrations of these Holy Days with the sisters in the monastery church.
