  • Mary Seibert of Tell City was appointed the State Regent of the Daughters of Isabella for the State of Indiana on Sept. 29 in Seymour. The Past State Regent, Valerie Nelson made the appointment in a special board meeting.

    Seibert became a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Nativity Circle #710, on the first Tuesday of November 1988. The following year she was elected as an auditor of the Circle. She has held office titles since then as Financial Secretary, Vice Regent, Regent and currently as Past Regent.

  • TELL CITY – St. Michael Church’s annual Turkey Bingo/Raffle will take place on Sunday, Nov. 18, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Cannelton Community Center.

    Everyone is welcome. Participants must be 18 years of age to play bingo according to state law. Cards are $2 each. During the bingo, prizes will be raffled. Concessions will be available. Everyone is invited.

  • Myra Michelle Dauby and Christian Charles Wyatt Palmer were united in marriage in a double-ring ceremony on Sept. 22, 2018, at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, Calif.

    The bride is the daughter of Mike and Cindy Dauby of Tell City. Mr. Palmer is the son of Bill and Susan Palmer of Stevenson Ranch, Calif.

    The ceremony was officiated by Jenny Richter of Tell City, aunt of the bride.

  • EVANSVILLE – A priest of the Diocese of Evansville familiar to many Perry Countians died this week. Father Philip J. Kreilein, 70, died Tuesday in Evansville after a short battle with cancer. He served as pastor of St. Ferdinand Parish in Ferdinand from 1991 to 1999.

    A Jasper native, he attended St. Meinrad High School and College in St. Meinrad and St. Mary Seminary and University in Baltimore, Md. Bishop Francis R. Shea ordained him a priest of the Diocese of Evansville on June 2, 1974.

  • Austin and Erica Reed of Tell City announce the birth of a son, Liam Bennett, on Sept. 18, 2018, at the Women’s Hospital. The infant weighed 8 pounds and was 19 ½ inches long. His mother is the former Erica Wilson.

    Grandparents are Ray and Amy Reed and Jim and Lisa Wilson, all of Tell City. Great-grandparents are Anna Board, Ethel Terry, Bob and Mary Lou Anson, Linda and the late Charlie Skinner, Rosella and the late Clarence Wilson and the late Jesse Reed.

  • Alicia and Nathan Wheatley of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Pria Jolene, born at 3:32 p.m., July 21, at The Women’s Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 19.375 inches long.

    She was welcomed by her sister, Coraline, age 2.

    Pria is the granddaughter of Rodney and Karen Doogs of Cannelton, and Lynetta Schwartz of Navarre, Fla. She is the great-granddaughter of Merle Doogs, Jeanetta Sims and Ronald Schwartz.

    Pria’s mother is the former Alicia Doogs.

  • Robert Darryl and Connie Taylor celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in Gatlinburg, Tenn., with a family vacation hosted by their children. The couple was married in Gatchel on Oct. 4, 1958.

    Mr. and Mrs. Taylor have five children, Wilma (Tommy) Kellems of Cannelton, Gwen (Kevin) Hall of Derby, Dale (Billie Sue) Taylor of Derby, Bob (Cindy) Taylor of Tell City and Keith (Amanda) Taylor of Lamar.

    The couple is also the grandparents of 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

  • Brandon and Lauren Zellers of Tell City announce the birth of their son, William Kaiser Zellers, on Sept. 3, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21 ½ inches long.

    William’s grandparents are Mick and Rita Young of Cannelton, Pat and Lesa Fischer of Tell City, Jordan and Jeanette Raven of San Antonio, Texas, and Keith Zellers and Amanda Roll of Tell City.

  • ST. MEINRAD – The Board of Overseers has added five new members and a returning member to the advisory board for Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology.

    The board advises President-Rector Fr. Denis Robinson OSB on matters related to the school’s programs and performance and addresses strategic questions related to the future of the school. Each member serves a three-year term.

    New members joining the board are Esi Bani, Frances Brown, Victor Neff, William Payne Jr. and Deneen Plessala. M. Diane Murphy is rejoining the board.

  • Mr. Robert B. Edwards and Mrs. Kayla M. Edwards of Marengo announce the birth of their son, Ezra James Edwards. He was born, July 17, 2018, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, weighing 5 pounds, 15 ounces and was 19.5 inches long.

    He is the grandson of Shawn and Christina Bailey of Tell City and Barbara L. Edwards and Bernard F. Edwards Jr. of St. Louis, Mo. His great-grandparents are Don and Norene Duke of Tell City.

    The mother is the former Kayla Bailey.
