  • Daniel and Claudia DuPont of Tell City are pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Hannah Mae, to Cory Matthew Ratcliffe, son of Karen Clodfelter and Jeff Ratcliffe both of Olney, Ill. 

    Hannah is the granddaughter of Raymond and Lucille Howell of  Tell City and Raphael and Vivian DuPont of Tell City. Cory is the grandson of Jim and Jan Liles and Ted and the late Judy Ratcliffe, all of Olney. 

  • Frank and Martha Heeke of Evanston celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 16, 2017. They were wed on Dec. 16, 1967, in Siberia. 

    The celebration was held at the Arnold F. Habig Community Center in Jasper, and was hosted by their children and family. 

    Frank and Martha Heeke are the parents of Bridget and Kevin Goffinet from Bristow; Deanna and Lee Moseby of Evansville; and Brent and Vicky Heeke of Evansville. Frank and Martha also have 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

    TELL CITY – Local Catholics filled the Schergens Center last Monday to offer suggestions on how the Archdiocese of Indianapolis should organize parishes in Perry County as part of a Connected in the Spirit plan that could affirm long-standing connections between some congregations and forge new ones.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Seventeen priesthood students from Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, received the ministry of lector on Feb. 15, in the Seminary’s St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel. Archbishop Charles Thompson, of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, installed the lectors.

     

    Seminarians receiving the ministry were:

    Kodjo (Cajetan) Agouvi (OSB) and Gbedevi (Justin) Dodzi Ayanou, Abbaye de L’Ascension de Danyi Dzogbegan

    Shawn W. Bohac, Diocese of Lexington, Ky.

  • Jacob and Emily Pagragan of New Haven, Conn., welcomed home a son, John Francis Pagragan, born Jan. 11, 2018, at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. Jacob weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 19 inches long. 

    John was welcomed home by his brothers: James, 8, Finn, 7, and Liam, 5, and  sisters, Keeley, 3, and Grace, 1. 

    Maternal grandparents are Jackie and Will Henrickson of New London, Conn. Paternal grandparents are Bill and Jennifer Pagragan of Richland.

  • CANNELTON – Freewill Baptist Church, at 117 S. Second St.,  Cannelton, would like to introduce its interim pastor, Daniel Reeves, to the community. He will be speaking Sunday morning, Feb. 25, at the 11 a.m. worship. Following that, there will be a carry-in dinner in the fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome to attend.

    Daniel was born in Owensboro, Ky., to two wonderful parents and also has a brother named David. Both he and his brother have felt  God’s call to the ministry, as David currently serves as a missionary.

  • FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand are offering a program, “Understanding How the Church Uses Scripture for the Liturgies of Holy Week,” on Saturday, March 17, from 9:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern time.

    The presenter will be Father Eugene Hensell OSB, a monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey. Father Eugene has a doctorate in Scripture and is an associate professor of Scripture in the Seminary and School of Theology. He is in much demand giving biblical retreats to laity, religious groups, and clergy throughout the country.

  • First Lenten breakfast at Cannelton UMC

     

    PERRY COUNTY – The Men’s Lenten Breakfast Fellowship Group of Perry County will host Lenten breakfasts each Saturday morning throughout the Lenten season from 7 to 7:50 a.m. Cannelton United Church of Christ will host the first breakfast Saturday, Feb. 17.

     Donations will be accepted to cover the cost of the food.

  • Tyler and Emily George of rural Bristow announce the birth of a son, Brody Reed George, Nov. 1, 2017. He weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces and was 19 ½ inches long

    Maternal grandparents are Marvin and Carol (Ubelhor) Troesch of St. Meinrad. Paternal grandparents are Tom and Danielle (Bosjolie) George of Santa Claus.

  • Joshua and Alessandra Graham of  Manhattan, Kan., welcomed home a daughter, Ilse Viktoria Graham, born at 4:29 p.m. Nov. 10, 2017, at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. Ilse weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Maternal Grandparents are Rick and Rita Aders of Bristow. Paternal grandparents are Robert Graham of Spring Creek, Pa. Great-grandmother is Beverly Hubert.

    The mother is the former Alessandra Aders.
