  • Guild rummage sale May 5

    TELL CITY – Emmanuel Women’s Guild will have their spring rummage sale on Saturday, May 5, beginning at 8 a.m. This is held in Lutheran Church hall at 12th street and Pestalozzi.

    Monte Cassino pilgrimages

    planned for Sundays in May

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in May.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery is hosting an exhibit of mixed media paintings by Louisville, Ky., artist Laurie Doctor. The show will run through May 14. Doctor is an accomplished painter and calligrapher who teaches workshops in the United States and Europe.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Three seminarians received the order of deacon from the Rev. Charles Thompson, archbishop of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, at the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church in St. Meinrad on April 7.

    The newly ordained deacons are Timothy DeCrane and Vincent Gillmore, both of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis; and Br. Damien Evangelista OSB of Prince of Peace Abbey, Oceanside, Calif. They are students at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology.

    Others in their class will be or have been ordained deacons in their respective dioceses.

  • Ed and Beverly Guillaume of Leopold will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary April 20, 2018.

    The couple was wed April 20, 1968, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. They have four children Jerry, Chad and Robert Guillaume and Colette Cunningham, all of Leopold. The Guillaumes also have seven grandchildren, Nick Seger (Jessica), Maggie Cunningham, Cody Guillaume, Carson Guillaume, Joe Cunningham, Gavin Guillaume and Jacob Guillaume, along with a great grandchild, Skyler Seger.

  • Alyssa Faith Ippolito and Taylor “T.J.” Hall were united in marriage Nov. 11, 2017, in a 3:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Evansville. The wedding was officiated by Fr. Dennis Latta.

    The bride is the daughter of Alan and Lisa Ippolito of St. John. She was given in marriage by her father.

    The groom is the son of Kevin and Gwen Hall of Derby.

  • Christopher and Patricia Gilmore of Cannelton welcomed home a daughter, Freya Marie, born at 1:50 a.m. April 3, 2018, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. Freya weighed 8 pounds 15 ounces, and was 21.5 inches long.

    Freya is welcomed by one sister, Isabella, age 5.

    Grandparents are Mary Bennett of Nebo, N.C.; and Cheri and Alan Gardner of Jasper, N.Y. Great-grandparents are Danny and Lori Haarman of Yosemite, Ky; and Harold and Patricia Bennett of Knottsville, Ky.

    The mother is the former Patricia Bennett.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in May.

    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:

    • May 6, Brother Lorenzo Peñalosa OSB, “Purifying Our Memories with Mary, Mother of Hope”

  • Josh and Britney Clark of Evanston welcomed home a daughter, Margo Jane, born on March 16, 2018, at Deaconess Gateway Women’s Hospital in Evansville. Margo weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

    Margo is welcomed by sister, Piper, age 3; and brother, Leo, almost 2 years old.

    Grandparents are, Yvette and Greg Hendershot, Vicki Clark and Gary and Linda Clark, all of Tell City.

    Great-grandparents are Donna and Tony Collignon of Tell City; Ruth and Norman Weber of Jasper; June Hendershot of Walton, Ky; and Bettye Volgemann of Tell City.

  • Easter worship service at Clayton Harris UMC

     

    TOBINSPORT – Clayton Harris Memorial United Methodist Church in Tobinsport invites the community to worship with its congregation on Easter Sunday. Worship will begin at 8 a.m., followed by  a pitch-in breakfast, egg hunt and Sunday School.

     

    Deer Creek Easter Sunday choir performance
