  • ST. MEINRAD – Christian Mocek has been named the director of annual giving for Saint Meinrad Archabbey and Seminary and School of Theology.

    He will be responsible for organizing, planning and managing Saint Meinrad’s programs for inviting annual support from individuals, corporations and foundations. Since July 2014, Mocek has served as the director of alumni relations for Saint Meinrad.

  • Tyler and Alyssa Franchville of Sulphur announce the birth of their son, Zayne Scott. He was born Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper weighing 8 pounds 7 ounces and was 22 inches long.

    His mother is the former Alyssa Williams.

    Grandparents are Scott and Kim Franchville of Derby, and Scott and Alyson Williams of Magnet.

    Great-grandparents are Bob and Geraldine Cronin of Gatchel; Peggy Franchville of Bristow; Charlene Edwards of Magnet; and Carol Taylor of Magnet.

  • Philip and Lauren Hartz of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Hudson Ramsey.

    He was delivered at 10:30 a.m., Aug. 21, 2018, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. Hudson weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long.

    The mother is the former Lauren Ramsey.

    Hudson has two sisters, 5-year-old Hadley and Madeline, 3.

    Maternal grandparents are Chris and Karen Ramsey and paternal grandparents are Jon and Teri Hartz, all of Tell City.

  • LEOPOLD – St. Augustine Church’s first Rosary of Light and Life will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. on the parish grounds in Leopold. The community is invited to share in praying the rosary with a large, glowing rosary of light, dedicated to the sanctity of life and held by children of the parish. The event is free and a donation jar will be available to benefit Tell City Catholic Charities to promote their sanctity of life ministry, which helps provide necessities for babies and promotes adoption awareness.

  • Marvin and Betty Seifert of Rome will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary on Sept. 28, 2018.

    Mr. Seifert and Betty York were married on Sept. 28, 1963, in Rome.

    The Seiferts are the parents of David Seifert (Susie) and Paul Seifert (Anna) and the grandparents of Ashley, Becky and Kayla Seifert and Sam Snyder.

  • Nancy and Ronnie Kleaving of Tell City and Joe and Joanie Durchholz of Evansville announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their children, Nick Kleaving and Jessica Durchholz.

    Nick is a 2011 graduate of Tell City High School and 2015 University of Southern Indiana graduate with a degree in business administration and minor in marketing. He is a branch manager of One Main Financial in Evansville.

  • D.J. and Natasha Newton of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Kamden Edward Newton. He was born Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Kamden weighed 5 pounds, 1 ounce and was 18 inches long.

    Mrs. Newton is the former Natasha Kieser.

    Grandparents are Traci Newton of Tell City, and Kenny and Susie Kieser of Derby and the late Jim Newton.

  • Todd and Sarah Heck of Tell City and Chuck and Stacy Bozarth of Hawesville, Ky., announce the engagement of their children, Emily Grace Heck of Tell City and Tristan Lewis Bozarth of Hawesville. The couple will be married on Oct. 20, 2018, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. A reception will be held at Santa’s Lodge Celebration Room in Santa Claus. Formal invitations have been sent.

  •  ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in October.

    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:

    • Oct.7 – Fr. Guerric DeBona, OSB, “Mary as the Hearer of the Word”

  • Blake Bumm and Breanna Sanders of Cannelton wish to announce their engagement and approaching wedding. The ceremony will be held at Monkey Hollow Winery on Sept. 29, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. followed by a reception at Fulda Sportsmen Club.

    Breanna is the daughter of Tammy (Hedinger) Sturgeon and John Sanders, both of Troy. Breanna is a registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and is employed as an industrial nurse at ATTC Manufacturing.
