  • Nicholas and Denise Bartlett of Tell City announce the birth of their sons, Jess Ryan and Jameson Michael.

    The twins were delivered at 5:36 p.m. March 7, 2014, at Deaconess Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.

    Jess weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 18½ inches long. Jameson was 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    Mrs. Bartlett is the former Denise Terry. Jess and Jameson have a sister, Josie, 2.

    Maternal grandparents are Michael and Judy Terry of Tell City. Paternal grandparents are Morris and Sheila Bartlett of Santa Claus.

  • Mary Kaye Foertsch and Bryan Lee Ward of Jasper announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Frank and Sharon Adams of Tell City and the late Maurice Foertsch.

    The groom-to-be is the son of Charlotte Ward of Tell City and the late Jennings Ward.

    The wedding is planned for 6:30 p.m. June 10, 2014, in Panama City Beach, Fla. All family and friends are welcome to attend. No formal reception is planned.

    Miss Foertsch is a graduate of Tell City High School and is employed at Medical of Dubois.

  • ... was the instruction emblazoned across T-shirts of the 81 participants of a 4-H color run by the same name Sunday at Tell City’s Sunset Park.

    Another 20 volunteers were also involved, and among them were members of 4-H Junior Leaders who worked to comply with the instruction by throwing colored powder.

    Admission to the two-mile walk-run event cost a canned-food or cash donation. Cathy Boerste, Purdue extension director and 4-H youth development educator, said four big boxes of food and $61 were collected.

  • Siblings Jack and Rebecca Shearn, 2014 graduates of Cornerstone Christian School, were honored with a luncheon April 6 by Freewill Baptist Church.

    The Shearns are the children of Brad and Melissa Shearn of Hawesville, Ky. And have attended Cornerstone since kindergarten.

    During a Sunday service, the Rev. L.C. Garrett acknowledged them, saying “ the church is so pleased to recognize  two outstanding young people that have been a consistent asset to both our school and church.”

  • Tell Street Baptist hosts Bible study Wednesdays
    TELL CITY – The Tell Street Baptist Church in Tell City holds Bible study every Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church. All are invited to attend.

    St. Michael’s fish fry Friday

    CANNELTON – St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton will serve its last fish dinner of Lent Friday. No dinner will be served Good Friday, April 18.

  • Oakwood Health Campus residents Ben and Wandalea Varner celebrated their 60th Wedding anniversary recently with an open house hosted by the staff at Oakwood.

  • Steven and Jaclyn White of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Ethan John.

    He was delivered Dec. 30, 2013, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    Mrs. White is the former Jaclyn Underhill. Ethan has one brother, Levi, 6.

    Maternal grandparents are John and Belinda Underhill of Oriole.
    Paternal grandparents are Clayton White of Tell City and Debra White of Cannelton.

  • Kevin and Jenna Gengelbach of Wadesville announce the birth of their son, Rhett William.

    He was delivered at 12:07 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2014, at Deaconess Women’s Hospital in Newburgh. The infant weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    Mrs. Gengelbach is the former Jenna Staples. Rhett has one brother, Miles Wilson, 4.

    Maternal grandparents are Linn and Teri Staples of St. Wendel.

    Paternal grandparents are Lee and Libby Gengelbach of Tell City.

  • Jeremy and Kimberly Yackle of Corydon announce the birth of their daughter, Kara Jo.

    She was delivered at 8:01 p.m. March 6, 2014, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon. The infant weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    Mrs. Yackle is the former Kimberly Spieth.

    Maternal grandparents are Jo Ann and Ray Saylor of Depauw and David Spieth of High Point, N.C.

    Paternal grandparents are Gerald and Barbara Yackle of Tell City. Great-grandparent is Jean Weber of Clayton.
