    ROME – An open house 90th birthday celebration for Bobbi Whitehead will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at the Rome United Methodist Church in Rome. All friends are welcome to attend and wish Bobbi a happy 90th birthday.

    THE BRISTOW COMMUNITY CENTER holds euchre games at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

    THE WILLIAM TELL CENTER will host its weekly dance at 7 p.m. Saturday. Country Sunshine will perform. Cost is $5 and includes drinks and snacks. Line dancing is held every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

    Card playing is held every Tuesday at 6 p.m. The public is invited to all events. Call 547-2714 for more information.


    Tennis clinics set at Vastwood Park today and Tuesday
    HAWESVILLE, Ky. – A tennis clinic for ages 10-18 will be held 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Vastwood Park July 21-22. Registration fee is $5. For more information, call Dan Hopkins at (812) 508-9700.

    Friend of library to meet Tuesday
    TELL CITY – The Friends of the Perry County Public Library will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the Tell City branch at 2328 Tell Street. Plans for the Aug. 9 book sale will be finalized during the meeting.


    • The Oil Township High School classes of 1945-1947 will hold a class reunion at noon Saturday, July 26, at Bill and Dave’s Smokin’ Pit in Tell City.

    • Perry Central’s Class of 1994 will hold a 20-year reunion from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the French Lick Hotel. Members should reserve space for dinner and entertainment. Cost is $45 per person.

    THE BRISTOW COMMUNITY CENTER filled seven tables during euchre games Wednesday. Leading the group was Elvis Zehr, who finished with 94 points. Vernie Harpenau took second place, scoring 92 points. In third place was Merl Gelarden with 90 points and Mike Elder finished fourth with 89 points. The center holds euchre games at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

    Karaoke at William Tell Center Friday

    TELL CITY – The William Tell Center will host a karaoke night from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 18 at the center. Donnie Tindle of Crosswinds will provide the karaoke.

    VFW to sell chicken dinners Saturday

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will sell chicken dinners beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the post home.

  • Food preservation workshop July 24

    CHRISNEY – A food preservation workshop will be held at the Spencer County Youth and Community Center in Chrisney from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24. Participants will learn the basics of canning and freezing vegetables. Cost is $10 per person. Class size is limited. Call (812) 362-8066 to register.

  • Masons to hold fellow craft degree July 26, no Aug. meeting

    BRANCHVILLE – Branchville Masons Lodge 496 will hold a fellow craft degree ritual at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at the lodge. A breakfast of eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy will start at 7 a.m.

    There will be no stated meeting in August.

    A stated meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6.

  • K of C to sell chicken dinners

    TELL CITY – The Knights of Columbus will have chicken dinners available beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, in the parking lot behind the K of C building.

  • Car show to return to Schweizer Fest Aug. 9

    TELL CITY – This year’s Schweizer Fest will include a car show. Oakwood Health Campus will sponsor the event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, in the St. Paul Catholic Church parking lot. Winners will be chosen by voting ballot and announced at 4 p.m.
