  • Dinner sales to benefit Himi Hinton

    CANNELTON – A pork-chop dinner in honor of Himi Hinton, who has been diagnosed with liver cancer, will take place beginning at 11 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Cannelton Firehouse. Dinners will be $8 each, and include creek fried potatoes, baked beans and a pork chop..

  • Dance for a Cure benefit Saturday

    HANCOCK COUNTY, Ky. – An upcoming Dance for a Cure benefit will help raise money for Tabitha Fentress, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

    A two-hour calorie-burning dance fitness party is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3,  at Hancock County Middle School, 100 State Route 271 S., Lewisport, Ky.

    Sponsored in part by Everbody’s Fitness, instructors will be Patty Hawkins, Amanda Bickford, Becky Hubert, Marian Keown and Laura Kessans.

  • Artists’ extrinsic flare on display at Krempp Gallery

    JASPER – The Krempp Gallery at the Jasper Arts Center is pleased to present the artwork of ceramic artist Lenny Dowhie of Evansville and mixed media artist Darryl Halbrooks of Richmond, Ky. Their exhibits will run from Feb. 1 through Feb. 26.

    Join both artists at the Jasper Arts Center for an opening reception at the Krempp Gallery  Feb. 1  from 5 to 7 pm. Each artist will give a brief gallery talk about themselves and their artwork. 

  • SWCD annual meeting Feb. 27

    CANNELTON – The 70th annual meeting of the Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Bristow Community Center in Bristow. Dinner is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.

  • Will Read and Sing for Food benefit Feb. 10

    TELL CITY – United Way of Perry County will host a Will Read and Sing for Food public benefit show on Saturday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. CST at the Hoosier Heights Country Club in Tell City.

    Jasper-based WRASFF, created and hosted by Tell City native Scott Saalman, is a mix of live music and humor essays.

    Since 2011, the show has raised over $120,000 for more than 40 charities and causes, mainly in southern Indiana, including several for Tell City Catholic Charities.
