  • Tickets available for Senior center trip to New York

    HUNTINGBURG – The Huntingburg Senior Center is sponsoring a motor coach trip to the Castles of New York, June 3 – 8, 2019. The cost of the six-day, five-night trip is $859 per person based on double occupancy and includes five breakfasts, one boxed lunch, three dinners, and visits to Boldt Castle, Singer Castle and Wing’s Castle. Also included are tours of Millbrook Vineyards and Winery, St. Lawrence River Cruise and a guided tour of the New York State Capitol Building. The five-nights lodging includes two nights at the Edgewood Resort on the St. Lawrence River.

  • ‘Santa Claus is coming to Therapy’ performances Friday, Saturday

    OWENSBORO, Ky. – Six Mental Health Professionals, including a Tell City native, are coming together to bring a fun, adult comedy to the stage this holiday season.

    Elizabeth Godthaab, daughter of the late Bob Godthaab and Susan Godthaab, is directing “Santa Claus is Coming to Therapy.” It will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, and Saturday, Dec. 22, by the Theatre Workshop of Owensboro at The Empress Theatre, 418 Frederica St., in Owensboro, Ky.

    A WRITERS GROUP AT TELL CITY LIBRARY will meet Tuesday, Dec. 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The group welcomes all writers 18 or older for fiction as well as nonfiction writing. This program is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring a sample of their writing.

  • New Years hikes set at Lincoln State Park, Patoka Lake

    LINCOLN CITY –

A series of First Day Hikes are set at several local trails. Those near Perry County are:

    • Lincoln State Park, 1 p.m.: Meet at the nature center for a hike to the Lincoln State Park fire tower. The trail has been improved greatly, and hikers can climb to the top of the tower if they want. Be prepared for a bit of a wait. Not everyone will be able to climb the tower at once

    • Patoka Lake, 1 to 2 p.m.: Meet at the nature center for a 3/4-mile hike on the scenic Garden Rock Loop Trail.

  • Scrooge on Jasper Arts stage Friday

    JASPER – A performance of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,”  will be presented at the Jasper Arts Center on Friday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m.

    A powerful story of redemption,  “A Christmas Carol,” has enchanted audiences the world over with its simple message of Holiday joy. Ebenezer Scrooge – that most unrepentant and miserly fellow – is made to see the light as he survives a merciless battery of revelations by the ghosts of his own life: Jacob Marley and the Christmas Spirits of Past, Present, and Future.

  • Guided hike coming to Hemlock Cliffs Saturday

    CRAWFORD COUNTY – The U.S. Forest Service will offer a free guided hike at the Hemlock Cliffs Trail on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m. to noon EST. 

    Participants will walk the 1.4-mile loop with a guide and should be aware there is a rock staircase down into a canyon. This scenic trail offers rock outcroppings and a waterfall.

    The trail is located in Crawford County, off of Indiana 37. Directions can be found on the Hoosier National Forest website, www.fs.usda.gov/hoosier.

    Mu Gamma taking orders for cheeseballs

     

    PERRY COUNTY – Mu Gamma Sorority is once again making its famous cheeseballs. Orders are currently being taken for holiday and the Old English cheeseballs. The holiday cheeseball has peppers, onions and crushed pineapple and the Old English is a blend of mild cheddar cheeses. The price is $8.

    They will be made on Saturday, Dec. 15. Orders can be given to any sorority member, or call Susan Harpenau at 547-6560.
