  • Story time registration now open at public library

    TELL CITY – Story time registration begins this week at the Perry County Public Library’s Tell City branch. This year, the library will offer a first- through third-grade age-group to the program line-up, called the “Adventurer’s Club.” The club will feature books, crafts and hands-on science experiments.

    Babies and toddlers story time will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. or 10:30 to 11 a.m. Mondays.

    Preschoolers ages 3-6 story time will be from Tuesdays 6 to 7 a.m. Tuesdays or from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursdays.

  • Big T’s Trade Day Saturday

    TELL CITY –The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will hold its annual Big T’s Trade Day at noon Saturday at the club home. The public is invited to participate. In the past, unique trading goods have been available, such as horse tack, tools, furniture, fencing supplies, household appliances and small animals. There is no participation fee for traders, sellers or buyers. All deals are between sellers and buyers. The club is at 9455 Summer Road in Tell City.   • Ireland plans St. Patrick’s Day celebration

    IRELAND – “Céad Míle Fáilte!” This is the slogan for the annual St. Patrick’s celebration in Ireland. Translated, it means, “One hundred thousand welcomes!”

    The town has planned a long list of activities and events during this festive celebration, such as a marionette show, Miss Shamrock Queen Pageant, Tator Tot (Baby) Photo Contest, cornhole tournament, and a concert by the talented Celebration Singers.

  • Tell City Spring Soccer League now taking registrations

    TELL CITY – Registration for the Tell City Spring Soccer League, grades 2, 3 and 4, is now open. The season will run six weeks with practices starting Tuesday, March 31. Students from Tell City, Cannelton, Perry Central and Hancock County schools and home-schooled children are welcome to participate. There will be two practices per week with Saturday morning games.   • PCMH to offer CPR classes

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Memorial Hospital will offer American Heart Association CPR classes this month. Classes are held in the Perry County EMS building classroom.

    • Family & Friends CPR is designed for anyone 12 and older who wants to learn CPR, choking rescue skills and automated external defibrilator use. No testing or performance evaluation is required. Class will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 4. Fee is $10.

    Autograph collectors club for kids Tuesday

    TELL CITY –  Local autograph collector Glenn Markiewicz plans to form a club for kids to teach them how to write letters and fill out envelopes to be sent to their favorite celebrities.

    The first meeting is set for 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, in the Fifth Third Bank meeting room. Anyone interested in joining or supporting the club is encouraged to attend. For more information, call Markiewicz at (812) 619-0447. Each meeting will include a show-and-tell session.

    THE PERRY COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Auxiliary board members will have their monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, March 6, in Conference Room C at the hospital.

  • Cover crops workshop set for March 10

    PERRY COUNTY – Purdue Extension Perry County, Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Perry Central Future Farmers of America are teaming up to offer a cover crops workshop March 10 at 6 p.m. at the Perry Central agriculture classroom.

    Cover crops are one of the key tools farmers have to prevent nutrient runoff and improve soil health. The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District has grant money to aid farmers in using this tool.

  • Wine and Dine to benefit Relay For Life


    SPENCER COUNTY – Relay for Life of Spencer County Team Happy will host the third-annual ‘Wine & Dine’ Saturday, March 21, at the St. Meinrad Community Center.

    Wine tasting will be from 4 to 6 p.m. CST and dinner will begin at 6 p.m. The meal, catered by the New Boston Tavern, will consist of pork chops, German Fries, green beans, cole slaw and dessert.

    A $20 donation will include wine tasting and dinner; a $10 donation will include wine tasting.

  • Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort job fair Saturday


    SANTA CLAUS – Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus will host a job fair Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Lake Rudolph office at 78 North Holiday Blvd.

    The job fair will take place from 9 a.m. to noon CST. Those interested in seasonal work this summer are invited to attend anytime during this period.
