  • Ferdinand to host town-wide yard sales today through Saturday

    FERDINAND – The Ferdinand Merchants and Chamber of Commerce are at it again, organizing the 13th annual Ferdinand Town-Wide Yard Sale for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 26-28.

    Entire neighborhoods will be sifting through drawers, closets, basements and attics to come up with lots of fun and fabulous finds. Most of Ferdinand’s homes have porches, garages and basements just in case the weather is unkind.

    Folklore topic of Historical Society meeting today


    TELL CITY – The Tell City Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, March 23 (today), at the museum, located at the corner of Ninth and Franklin streets.

    Due to wintry weather last month, the program scheduled for that meeting by Phil and Jeanne Wittmer will be held this month.

    THE MU GAMMA CHAPTER of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Evangelical United Church of Christ in the fellowship hall. Hostesses for the evening will be Rosie Boling, Trena Claise, Lee Ann Riley and George Ann Franchville.


    WANDA KEMP entertained her euchre club Tuesday, March 17, at her home in Apalona. Winners were Annette Underhill, Rosetta Roberts, Juanita Kunkler and Deanna  Rudolph.


  • Fitness walk to benefit Catholic Charities

    TELL CITY – Children and adults are invited to walk a 2-mile route as a way to support Catholic Charities Tell City and recognize walking as a form of exercise.

    Catholic Charities Tell City provides food assistance at Martin’s Cloak Food Pantry and Table of Blessings. Financial assistance is provided in the form of emergency assistance, Lifeline for Families, Early Years Store and budget basics classes.

  • Registration open for Small Steps to Wellness

    LEOPOLD – The Small Steps to Wellness second-annual fun run-walk, hosted by Stepping Stones Preschool, will be held Saturday, April 18.

    Organizers invite the community to participate in this family-friendly event. All money raised will support our Small Steps to Wellness program with a portion going the Perry Central High School Baseball Team. This event directly benefits youth and their families in rural Perry County.

    The race will begin and end at Stepping Stones Preschool, 18020 Lafayette Street in Leopold. 

  • Chamber hosting legislative update Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce will host a legislative briefing beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 28.

    The presentation will be held at the chamber office, located at 601 Main St., Suite A in Tell City.

    State Sen. Erin Houchin and State Rep. Lloyd Arnold have committed to attend. Legislators will give a summary of the session thus far, thoughts on the continuing session and will open the floor to questions.

    The public is encouraged to attend.

  • Raffle to benefit St. Augustine’s

    LEOPOLD – St. Augustine Church in Leopold is sponsoring a raffle to restore the church’s interior. Prizes include a two-night stay at Derby Cabins on the Ohio River; dinner for two at Smackwater Cove Grill, a $20 gift certificate for Blue Heron Vineyard, $20 certificate for Winzerwald Winery and a four-hour cruise on the Ohio River. 

    Raffle tickets are $2 per chance or $10 for six. The drawing will take place Monday, April 6 for winner-take-all. Raffle tickets are being sold at Guillaume’s Store in Leopold and Smackwater Cove Grill in Derby.

    Horseman’s club to host euchre games Saturday

    TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will host euchre games Saturday, March 21. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and games will begin at 7 p.m. Cost is $5 at the door and 25 cents per euchre game.

    Chili, hotdogs, desserts, coffee, sodas and water will be available.

    No smoking is permitted in the building. All games are open to the public ages 16 and older.

  • Oakwood volunteer workshop March 24

    TELL CITY – The staff and residents of Oakwood Health Campus invite the community to join them at an upcoming workshop about volunteer opportunities.

    This free event will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, Oakwood Health Campus. A luncheon and a TV door prize will also be included.
