  • Hoosier Nat’l Forest to offer Halloween camp Oct. 6

    PERRY COUNTY – A Halloween campout is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6, at Indian-Celina and Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area campground in the Hoosier National Forest.

    Campers are invited to decorate their campsites for a chance to win a prize.

  • Early Days Antiques tractor showcase, St. Meinrad VFD open house Oct. 7

    ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual open house Oct. 7 in conjunction with displays from Early Days Antique Club. The public is welcome to eat, view the trucks, antiques and visit with members. Last minute raffle tickets will be $5.

    From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. chicken and pork-chop dinners as well as hamburgers and desserts will be sold. Beginning at 11 a.m. will be a kiddy-tractor pull courtesy of Heritage Hills Future Farmers of America, a stat-flight helicopter landing and a performance by Sweet Water Band lasting till 2 p.m.

  • Halcyon Farm joins fall tour fun Oct. 20

    ROME – The Halcyon Hill Farm will have a free preview weekend this October during the Shubael Little Pioneer Village Landmark & Historical Place Fall Festival. The Halcyon Hill Farm is located less than one mile from Shubael Little Pioneer Village on Highway 66. The free weekend will have events running Saturday, Oct. 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., including a 7 p.m. free outdoor showing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!” The farm will open again Sunday, Oct. 21, from noon to 5 p.m.

  • Annual Chamber of Commerce Witches Walk set for Oct. 25

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce and area merchants will be “treating” local spooks to a safe and fun Halloween during this year’s Witches Walk. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Annual Ladies Days Out Oct. 5-6

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce would like to announce the 11th annual Ladies Day Out sales and benefit promotion will occur Friday, Oct. 5, and Saturday, Oct. 6.

    The sales extravaganza promotions will begin with a kickoff breakfast on Friday morning, Oct. 5 at 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the education rooms located on the first floor of Perry County Memorial Hospital, 8885 State Hwy. 237, Tell City. A breakfast will include guest speakers from the oncology department and local cancer fighting heroes and survivors.

  • Plant-based diet tasting event coming Oct. 7

    TELL CITY – Tell City Seventh-Day Adventist Church will host a free tasting event Sunday, Oct. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. The event will include free samples of food and a free recipe booklet featuring plant-based foods.  

    Tell City Seventh-Day Adventist Church is located at 434 13th St., Tell City. Enter through the lower level of the building. RSVPs are not necessary for the event.

  • Honeybee fall management workshop today at Perry Central

    LEOPOLD – With fall on the way, it is time to start thinking about how we will help the bees build their stores for winter.

    The condition of the colony going into winter is vital to winter survival. Healthy “fat” bees with low mite populations and good honey supplies stand the best chance of overwintering well, particularly in very cold winters.

    Fall mite treatments contribute to a hive’s overwintering success.

    Coin club meeting Thursday

     

    TELL CITY – River Cities Coin Club will meet in the community room at Fifth Third Bank in Tell City on Sept. 20. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Meeting starts at 7.

  • Dragging Main, arts festival rescheduled

    TELL CITY –With the threat of all-day rains this past Saturday, the Dragging Main and art festival events scheduled to take place in and around City Hall Park have been postponed. Festivities have been set to resume this coming Saturday, Sept. 15. The drag is set to begin at 3 p.m., with family-centered fun continuing until 9. The Fall into Art festivities will begin at 10 a.m. and run until 7 p.m.
