  • Beekeepers’ spring hive care workshop March 15

    LEOPOLD – Purdue Extension and the Perry County Beekeepers will offer a “Starting a Hive and Spring Hive Care” workshop on March 15 at 6 p.m. in the FFA Building at Perry Central School.

    Bill Gibson and other experienced beekeepers will demonstrate hive basics for new beekeepers and spring hive management basics such as inverting a hive, building a swarm trap and hiving a swarm. If you are new to bees or interested in beekeeping, this is the workshop for you. Experienced beekeepers are welcome to attend.

  • National Players to perform ‘Othello,’ ‘Alice in Wonderland’ at Bede Theater

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey will host the National Players, America’s longest-running classical touring company, as it presents plays on March 16 and 17.

    The first show, actors will perform Shakespeare’s “Othello,” while the performance on Saturday,  will feature “Alice in Wonderland,” based on the book by Lewis Carroll.

    All performances are free and open to the public. They will be held at 7 p.m. Central time in St. Bede Theater on the Saint Meinrad campus. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

  • Extension’s spring break day camps set

    Make, Design and Experiment, March 23, is hand-on fun with science. Participants will build electric circuits with Squishy Circuits, design video games, code robots, build structures with Keva Planks and Strawbees, and much more.

  • Yappy Hour dog show coming March 23

    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus will be hosting a Yappy Hour and Dog Show event March 23 at 3 p.m. Refreshments provided. Trophies will be awarded for the dog with the best trick, best dressed and resident choice. Entrants are asked to take a pet food item for the Perry County Humane Society. During the month of March, Oakwood will collect pet food for the Perry County Humane Society. Boxes will be at each of the campus entrances for drop off donations.

  • Businesses on display at bridal show Sunday

    HAWESVILLE, KY. – Hancock County will host its first bridal show, which will is expected to become an annual event. The show will be held on March 11 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall at 115 Main St., Hawesville, Ky.

    Festivities will include door prizes, music, bridal gowns and tuxedo modeling, delicious food samples from caterers, and more.

    Renaissance Class yard sale March 3

     

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Jr.-Sr. High School Renaissance class will hold its annual yard sale Saturday, March 3, from 6 a.m. to noon. It will be in the school’s auxiliary gym.

    Items for sale include, clothes for all ages, decorations and household goods, games and puzzles, books, furniture and many more miscellaneous items. Parking is available in the student parking lot off of Tell Street with entry through the student parking lot entrance. 

     

  • Archabbey Library exhibits feature miters and typefaces

    ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery is hosting two exhibits curated by Saint Meinrad monk Fr. Harry Hagan OSB.

     Both exhibits are on display through Aug. 31.

    The first exhibit features miters and other pieces used by bishops and abbots for the celebration of a pontifical Mass. Brother Kim Malloy OSB, the Archabbey sacristan, chose these examples from the treasury of the sacristy.

  • Band Boosters’ Easter Bazaar March 10

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Band Boosters will hold its annual Easter Bazaar and Silent Auction Saturday, March 10, at the Schergens Center. The vendor fair will run from 10 a.m. to  3 p.m., with the silent auction going 1 to 3 p.m.

    New this year, the group will be selling chicken dinners. Meals will be $8, served with half a chicken, slaw and creek fries. Service will start at 11 a.m. and continue until sold out.

    Also, pictures with the Easter Bunny will start at 10 a.m. and an Easter egg hunt for the kids will start at 11.

    VFW serving breakfast Saturday

     

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars 2939 will host a breakfast buffet from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the post home. Scrambled eggs will be served or diners can get eggs made to order. Cost is $7, which includes tax. Carryout meals will be available. The public is invited.
