    TELL CITY – The Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board will meet Friday, Jan. 4, at 8:30 a.m. It will be held in the Conference Room at the hospital.

     

    County’s Republicans to celebrate new year Jan. 6

     

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Republican Party will gather to celebrate the new year on Sunday, Jan. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pour Haus.

    Knight’s Club breakfast Jan. 13

     

    TELL CITY – Tell City Knights Club is hosting a breakfast buffet on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon, located at 97 Tell St., Tell City. The menu is all-you-can eat and includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, French toast sticks, coffee, juice and milk. Cost is $7.50 or $3.50 for kids 12 and under.

  • Excursion train rides planned for Dec. 31

    TELL CITY – A pair of New Year’s Eve excursion train rides will be offered Monday, Dec. 3. Tickets are $10 each and two heated passenger cars will be on hand for the trips. A daytime ride will depart the Depot at 3 p.m. and a second night-ride will depart at 7 p.m. Rides will last about an hour.

    The daytime trip will give riders a view of the countryside along the Ohio River between Tell City and Troy, said Betty Cash, the county visitor’s bureau director. The night ride will return riders in time to watch the big apple drop in City Park.

  • Tell City Silvesternacht set for New Year’s Eve

    TELL CITY – The city’s annual Silvesternacht New Year’s Eve celebration is set for the evening of Dec. 31. The main gala of events will be centered in City Hall Park from 10 p.m. to  midnight.

    Now in its seventh year, leading up to the annual lowering of the illuminated apple, the park will play host to a number of activities, including a fireworks display, music a bubble wrap stomp and prize giveaways.

  • 4-H outdoor adventures set, skiing at Paoli Peaks Jan. 13

    PERRY COUNTY – Purdue Extension is offering students the opportunity to learn to ski and find out how Paoli Peaks makes snow at Outdoor Adventures-Ski Paoli Peaks on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Youth in grades three to 12 are invited to join in this activity. The $40 fee covers ski or snowboard rental, lift ticket, skiing lesson lunch, snowmaking lesson, lunch, and dinner. This adventure is valued at $100.

    Enrollment is open until Jan. 9 or when the program is filled. Contact the Purdue Extension-Perry County office at (812) 547-7084 to enroll.

  • Autistic adults social group forming

    TELL CITY – Don Corley of Tell City is looking for anyone interested in starting a social group for autistic adults.

    “Many autistic adults are in need, and find it difficult gaining employment,” Corley said. “They often end up spending most of their time in loneliness and isolation.”

  • Writers workshop discussion Jan. 22

    TELL CITY – Writers of all types are welcome to attend a writing workshop discussion on Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The group welcomes all writers 18 or older for fiction as well as nonfiction writing to share their writing and have an opportunity for discussion.

    This program is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to bring a sample of their writing.

    TELL CITY – Be a winter hero and donate blood Wednesday, Dec. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at German American Bank, 645 Main St, Tell City, second floor conference room, and receive a free long sleeve T-shirt.
