  • Daughters of Isabella open house April 3

    TELL CITY – The Daughters of Isabella nativity circle 710 are inviting Catholic ladies age 16 plus to attend their April 3 open house meeting. This meeting is in St. Paul’s parish hall at 7 p.m. if interested feel free to stop in, get acquainted, meet some of our members and learn about some of our programs.

    The group’s state project is St. Elizabeth/Coleman Center in Indianapolis, but is also supports areas projects including council of agencies, scholarships, after proms, church projects, etc. our meetings are the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m.

  • Quilt guild sponsoring trunk show April 2

    TELL CITY – The Lincoln Trail Quilt Guild will host a trunk show by Carol Hauenstein Henke on Monday, April 2, at 9:30 a.m. at the Fifth Third Bank meeting room in Tell City.

    A Tell City native, Carol will be showing some smaller samples of her work including beading, embellishing, thread painting, dimensional wool, wool applique and trapunto. She may include some Hauenstein quilts from the family home.

    The public is invited. There is no admission fee.

  • Rome car, truck show April 22

    ROME – One of the first events in the celebration of the bicentennial of the historic Rome Courthouse will be a car and truck show on Sunday, April 22, at the courthouse. This will be held in conjunction with the annual Dogwood Festival.

    Anyone is invited to enter a car or truck. Registration is $10 and there will be trophies awarded in several classes. There will also be food and refreshments that day.

    Registration is planned from 9 to 11 a.m. with awards announced at 2 p.m. For more information or to register, contact Mark Seifert at (812) 719-7093.

  • Cannelton cleanup begins April 9

    CANNELTON – The annual city-wide spring cleanup in the city of Cannelton is set for the week of April 9-13. Items will be picked up with normal trash routes.

     

    No household appliances, such as refrigerators or stoves, will be collected; nor will chemicals – paint – building materials, automotive parts, tires or batteries. Also prohibited are box springs, carpets and pallets. However, each residence will be allowed to discard one large item, like a mattress.

  • Low cost spay/neuter clinic April 24

    CANNELTON – Perry County Animal Shelter will host a low-cost spay and neuter clinic April 24. Dogs under 85 pounds will cost $55 for males and $65 for females. Additional $25 for any dog over 85 pounds. Proof of current rabies vaccinations needed at sign-up. Rabies vaccines will be $15 if needed; shots only offered with spay neuter surgery.

    Trap and release cats will cost $30 for males and $45 for females; includes rabies, booster vaccines and left ear tipping.

    Derby Community meeting Saturday

     

    DERBY – A Derby community membership meeting will be held on Saturday, March 31, at 6:30 pm at the Derby Community Center. Free hot dogs, popcorn, soft drinks and water will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m.

  • Daughters of Isabella to host paint party April 17

     

    TELL CITY – The Daughters of Isabella will host a paint party fundraiser on Tuesday, April 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. in St. Paul’s Parish Hall. Contact Betty Cash at the Tell City Depot at (812) 547-7933 to sign-up and to choose a design to paint. Cost is $30.

  • New members sought for Daughters of 1812

    CORYDON – The March meeting of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812, Jonathan Jennings chapter was held at Harrison Springs Health Campus Club House in Corydon.

    Eighteen members were present.

    Items of interested include:

    • The organization has four new members and  four perspective members.

  • American Legion ladies will award a student grant

    TELL CITY – The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Unit 213 will award a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior from Tell City or Perry Central. Eligibility requirements are: you must have a parent or grandparent who is a current member of the Tell City Post, Ladies Auxiliary, or a parent or grandparent who was a member at the time of their death.

    Contact your high school counselor for the application. Applications are due April 25.

  • Tobinsport cemetery cleanup

    TOBINSPORT – Simon and Lamb Cemeteries in Tobinsport are requesting that flowers and other decorations on graves that are not attached to grave stones should be removed for the mowing season. These items should be removed by April 1. Items not removed by April 1 will be taken up and disposed of. Shepherd hooks may remain as long as they are next to a stone.
