    RFD annual meeting Today


    ROME – The annual meeting of the Rome Fire Department will be held Monday, April 1, at the Rome Community Center at 7 p.m. Three directors are up for election this year. Dues for the year are $30 for the first property. 

    Additional properties are $15 each. Dues must be paid by April 1 to be eligible to vote. They can be paid at the annual meeting.

  • Tell City’s second half-marathon set for April 6

    TELL CITY– EverBody’s Fun & Fitness Center will host the second annual Tell City Half Marathon and 5K on April 6. The public is invited to take part for a run/walk on the streets of Tell City, county and state roads, and the Ohio and Windy Creek Greenways.

    Vendor sales at Fifth-Third Saturday


    TELL CITY – Fifth-Third Bank in Tell City will be hosting an open house for the public with vendors on Saturday, March 30, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Vendors available selling their wares will be Bees Bargains, Color Street, Thirty One Gifts, Unique, Young Living and Norwex.

  • Annual TCJSHS art show starts April 1

    TELL CITY – The 15th annual Tell City High School Art Show will be held April 1-5 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The show will be available to the public at additional times on April 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. and on April 5 from 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event will be held in the school library media center.

    During the school day, visitors to the show must sign in at the office, and are asked to park in the teacher’s and visitor’s parking lot. Visitors are also able to cast votes for their favorite artworks.

    Beekeepers meeting  today


    LEOPOLD – Thinking about getting started in bees? Spring is the time to do it. The Perry County Beekeepers organization is offering a Getting Started with Bees workshop on Thursday, March 21, at 6 p.m. in the FFA Building at Perry Central. Experienced beekeeper Bill Gibson will discuss getting started with bees, including methods of obtaining bees, preparing to catch swarms, what a “nucleus hive” is, and how to use swarms or “nucs” to start a new colony.

    Oakwood food truck fundraiser today


    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus will hold a Trilogy Food Truck Fundraiser to help support local veterans on Monday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. by selling barbecue pork sandwich dinners consisting of a sandwich, beans, slaw and a cookie for $5. The Trilogy Food Truck will be parked in the lower lot of Noble’s IGA in Tell City. For businesses or factories wanting to place a pre-order to be delivered contact Whitney at (812) 547-2333.


  • United Way annual meeting March 26

    TELL CITY – United Way of Perry County will hold its annual meeting and campaign celebration on Tuesday, March 26, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Derby Community Center.

    Each of the 2018 Grant Award winners will be on hand with information regarding their nonprofit and awarded funds will be distributed throughout the evening. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be provided by Marcy’s.  There will be a brief business meeting and installation of new United Way officers.

  • Annual JFK dinner March 31

    CHRISNEY – The Spencer County Democrat’s annual John F. Kennedy dinner will be held Sunday, March 31, at Spencer County 4-H Center, Chrisney. Doors open at noon with meal served at 12:30 p.m. Menu to include pork chops, potato salad, baked beans, slaw, dessert and drink.

    Tickets will be $15 available at the door. Guest speaker will be John Gregg. There will also be a silent auction and half-pot drawing. The public is welcome.

    TELL CITY – The next Knits and Knots meeting will be held Thursday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. at Tell City First United Methodist Church. Newcomers are welcome.
