  • United Way annual meeting March 26

    TELL CITY – United Way of Perry County will hold its annual meeting and campaign celebration on Tuesday, March 26, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Derby Community Center.

    Each of the 2018 Grant Award winners will be on hand with information regarding their nonprofit and awarded funds will be distributed throughout the evening. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be provided by Marcy’s.  There will be a brief business meeting and installation of new United Way officers.

  • Annual JFK dinner March 31

    CHRISNEY – The Spencer County Democrat’s annual John F. Kennedy dinner will be held Sunday, March 31, at Spencer County 4-H Center, Chrisney. Doors open at noon with meal served at 12:30 p.m. Menu to include pork chops, potato salad, baked beans, slaw, dessert and drink.

    Tickets will be $15 available at the door. Guest speaker will be John Gregg. There will also be a silent auction and half-pot drawing. The public is welcome.

    TELL CITY – The next Knits and Knots meeting will be held Thursday, March 14, at 6:30 p.m. at Tell City First United Methodist Church. Newcomers are welcome.

    Oakwood food truck fundraiser March 18


    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus will hold a Trilogy Food Truck Fundraiser to help support local veterans on Monday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. by selling barbecue pork sandwich dinners consisting of a sandwich, beans, slaw and a cookie for $5. The Trilogy Food Truck will be parked in the lower lot of Noble’s IGA in Tell City. For businesses or factories wanting to place a pre-order to be delivered contact Whitney at (812) 547-2333.

    Perry County GOP morning brew Saturday


    TELL CITY – The Perry County Republican Party will host a morning discussion on Saturday, March 9, at 9 a.m. at its headquarters, 1005 Main St., Tell City. Discussions will be about what is happening in the county, opportunities to network with others and announcements of upcoming events. Pastries and coffee will be offered.

  • Crop Day to feature plant disease update

    ST. MEINRAD – The annual Perry-Spencer Crop Day program will be held Thursday, March 14, at the St. Meinrad Community Center. Registration and sponsor displays will open at 5:15 p.m. with the meal beginning at 6 p.m.

    Crop Day is a joint effort between Purdue Extension and Soil & Water Conservation Districts in Perry and Spencer counties. The featured speaker this year is Darcy Telenko of the Botany and Plant Pathology Department at Purdue University providing a crop disease management update.

    VFW BB gun shoot Sunday


    TELL CITY – VFW Post 2939 in Tell City will have a BB gun shoot on Sunday, March 3, at the post hall 301 Main St. from noon to 3 p.m. Cost will be $2 per round with two shots per round.

    Shooters can win a Daisy Rider BB Gun and other great prizes.

    Only Daisy Rider BB Guns are allowed in the competition. Daisy Riders will be provided to those who don’t have them.

    The public is welcome. Food and drink will be available.


  • ‘Tall Tales’ book signing at TC museum Feb. 25

    TELL CITY – On Monday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m., Stephen Saalman will be at the Tell City Historical Society Museum, located at the corner of Ninth and Franklin streets, to discuss his newest book, “Tall Tales from the Tattletown and Other forgotten Communities of Perry County Indiana.”

  • National Players returning March 8-9

    Saint Meinrad Archabbey will once again host the National Players, America’s longest-running classical touring company, as it presents plays on March 8 and 9.

    On Friday, March 8, the actors will perform Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night,” while the performance on Saturday, March 9, will be “Around the World in 80 Days” based on the book by Jules Verne as adapted by Laura Eason.
