    D of I mother-daughter dinner Tuesday


    TELL CITY – The Daughters of Isabella mother-daughter dinner will be held Tuesday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m. Please bring a covered dish. Meat will be provided. The committee is comprised of Bonnie Weber, Carol Voges, Janet Wagner, Carol Waninger and Jo Waninger. Call Becky Hagedorn at (812) 836-2805 to make reservations.

  • 2019 Amphitheatre lineup: classic rock, country acts, premiere of Lincoln play

    Lincoln Amphitheatre’s 2019 performance series will continue to feature a diverse lineup of performances highlighted by appearances by rock, pop, country, classical and family entertainment.

    Molly Hatchet, John Waite, Henry Lee Summer, Ben and Noel Haggard and sons of Country Music Hall of Fame member, Merle Haggard are some of the artists who will be performing in Lincoln City.

  • Tickets available for Senior center trip to New York

    HUNTINGBURG – The Huntingburg Senior Center is sponsoring a motor coach trip to the Castles of New York, June 3 – 8, 2019. The cost of the six-day, five-night trip is $859 per person based on double occupancy and includes five breakfasts, one boxed lunch, three dinners, and visits to Boldt Castle, Singer Castle and Wing’s Castle. Also included are tours of Millbrook Vineyards and Winery, St. Lawrence River Cruise and a guided tour of the New York State Capitol Building. The five-nights lodging includes two nights at the Edgewood Resort on the St. Lawrence River.

    Retired teachers luncheon Tuesday


    TELL CITY – The Perry County Chapter of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association will meet for a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, at the Patio. John Mundy, director of the Perry County Public Library, will speak after the meal. All members are encouraged to attend.

  • William Tell triathlon Saturday

    William Tell Elementary School will host its annual Kids’ Triathlon for Grades 1-6 on Saturday, May 11. The Tell City Police Department will close and patrol Tell Street from 9 to 10:15 a.m. The triathlon has been set up for the students to run, bike and swim.  They will run from William Tell Elementary to the Tell City Public Library.  At the library they will ride their bikes to Tell City Jr-Sr High School where they will swim up to 50 yards in the pool.

    Typhoons tryouts tonight


    TELL CITY – The Tri-County Swim Club will host tryouts Thursday, May 2, from 4 to 4:45 at Tell City Jr. Sr. High School. The season begins Monday, May 6. Anyone 18 years old or younger interested in joining should attend one of the sessions and sign up. More information can be found at tricountytyphoons@gmail.com.

    Veterans Café at Oakwood Tuesday


    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus and Kindred Hospice will host a breakfast for all veterans or military personnel in the local community on Tuesday, April 30, at 9 a.m. in the assisted living dining area to show that staff are proud to serve those who have served us.

    This will be a monthly breakfast held the last Tuesday of each month giving veterans the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and to socialize over breakfast.

  • Legion Auxiliary poppy days May 2-4

    PERRY COUNTY – Red crepe paper poppies will be available Thursday through Saturday, May 2-4, at two Tell City locations, Noble’s IGA and Walmart. Poppy sales will begin at 8 a.m.

    The poppies are reminders of the sacrifices of the thousands of service members in all wars.

    The program is an annual event sponsored by members of Tell City’s American Legion 213 Auxiliary.

    Volunteers will take part in the nation-wide program in memory of the citizen soldiers who gave their lives in the cause of freedom.

  • ‘Almost, Maine’ opens at Perry Central May 9

    LEOPOLD – Perry Central High School will present “Almost, Maine,” a play by John Cariani, on Thursday, May 9, at 7 p.m., Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 12, at 2:30 p.m. at Perry Central High School in Leopold.

    Tickets will be $8.
