  • Little Pigeon gospel sing Saturday

    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church near Lamar will hold a meal and gospel sing Saturday, April 25, at the church.

    A meal will be served at 6 p.m. and singing by “The Wilson Family” will begin at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited and welcome.

  • Deer Creek Cemetery items should be removed

    TELL CITY – To prepare for mowing, the Deer Creek Baptist Church cemetery committee will remove floral arrangements in the cemetery Saturday, May 2. Items to be kept should be removed before that date. To aid with mowing, trimming and safety, the committee requests new flowers or figurines be securely fastened to the memorial stone above ground level or attached to a shepherd’s hook. New items placed at ground level will be removed before the cemetery is mowed.

  • Sisters of St. Benedict’s music students to perform Saturday

    FERDINAND – Music students of the Sisters of St. Benedict will showcase their talents in a pair of recitals Saturday, May 9 at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. EDT in the St. Gertrude Hall of Monastery Immaculate Conception.

    Sisters Helen Maurer, Mary Karen Hill and Rose Wildeman, teach students piano, guitar and violin, as well as voice lessons and various band instruments.

    Lessons on other instruments may also be available upon request.

    TELL CITY – Tell City First United Methodist Church will host Youth Sunday at 9 a.m. April 26, followed by Sunday school at 10:15. Come check out what the youth have planned for worship at the church.

    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church in Tell City will host a spring praise concert beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 19.

    Restored by Grace will perform. All are invited to attend.

    EVANSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston will host a euchre tourney and dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the church.

    Gospel music spring fling Saturday


    The Revival Center Church of Jesus Christ will host a Gospel Music Spring Fling beginning at 6 p.m.  Saturday, April 11.

    This free event will feature The Childress Family, Holy Ghost Revival and LambSong and will take place at Cloverport United Methodist Church, located at 801 Elm Street in Cloverport, Ky.

  • St. Meinrad church groups to volunteer in Belize, seek financial support

    ST. MEINRAD – A group of adults and children from two local Catholic churches plan to travel to Belize this summer to build a home for a family in need. The groups are traveling under the auspices of Hand in Hand Ministries, a non-profit organization headquartered in Louisville, Ky. The organization assists people who face economic challenges in Louisville, Appalachia, Belize and Nicaragua.

    Community Holy Week services planned


    TELL CITY – Local churches in Tell City are sponsoring public Holy Week services in Tell City. Today’s Maundy Thursday service will be held at Tell City First United Methodist Church and a Good Friday service will be held at Evangelical United Church of Christ. Everyone is invited to attend as a way to enter into the spirituality of Holy Week.

    Community Holy Week services planned


    TELL CITY – Local churches in Tell City will sponsor public Holy Week services in Tell City, March 30 (today) through Friday. Each service will begin at noon and last half an hour. On Monday of Holy Week, the service will be sponsored by Tell City Church of the Nazarene. Tuesday’s service will be at Community Christian Church; Wednesday, First Baptist Church; Maundy Thursday, Tell City First United Methodist Church and Good Friday at Evangelical United Church of Christ.

    Youth night at First Baptist


    CANNELTON – First Baptist Church in Cannelton will host a Youth Refuge Game Night beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at the church at 325 N Fourth Street in Cannelton. Youth in grades three through twelve are invited to attend for pizza, air hockey, ping pong, basketball, other games and a craft. All denominations are welcome.
