  • Four Archabbey monks profess solemn vows

    ST. MEINRAD – Four men professed solemn vows as Benedictine monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey in a ceremony on Jan. 25 in the Archabbey Church at St. Meinrad. They are Br. Simon Herrmann, Br. Nathaniel Szidik, Br. Joel Blaize and Br. Jean Fish.

    Br. Simon is a former resident of Findlay, Ohio, and he is a graduate of the University of Dayton, earning a bachelor’s degree in communication management in 2010.

  • Novice joins Benedictine community at Saint Meinrad Archabbey

    ST. MEINRAD – In a brief ceremony, Novice Dennis Reyes was clothed in the Benedictine habit at Saint Meinrad Archabbey Jan. 19. He now begins a year of monastic formation, including study of the Rule of St. Benedict and monastic history. 

    Novice Dennis, 42, is a native of Manila, Philippines.

    First UMC Journey Service every Saturday


    TELL CITY – First United Methodist Church of Tell City is starting “The Journey Service,” a weekly recovery service held at the church every Saturday. The church will host a meal at 5:15 p.m. with service starting afterwards at 5:30 p.m.

    CANNELTON – Cannelton Free Will Baptist Church will present its Christmas program Sunday, Dec. 23, at 6 p.m. Pastor Daniel Reeves and Rev. Cleatus Garrett invites everyone to attend. The church is located on the corner of Second and Taylor Streets.

  • Churches set holiday programs

    Deer Creek Baptist shows this and next Sunday


    TELL CITY – A play presented by children, “Just a Little Christmas,” will be at Deer Creek Baptist Church on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. A fellowship will follow.

    The choir will present Emmanuel: Celebrating Heaven’s Child on Sunday morning, Dec. 23, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Christain Watkins will bring the message following the choir presentation. All are welcome to these events.

    Methodist chili supper Dec. 12


    CANNELTON – The Cannelton, Rome and Tobinsport Methodist churches will host a free chili supper Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. This supper will be at the Methodist church in Cannelton, 214 S Third St. The public is welcome.
