  • Fulda church plans summer picnic Aug. 4

    FULDA – The annual Historic St. Boniface Catholic Church Summer Picnic will be held on Sunday, Aug. 4, beginning at 10 a.m. CDT on the church grounds at Fulda.

    Games and entertainment, including bingo, will be available throughout the parish grounds. For the family, a Family Fun Center with free games and activities will be open throughout the day.

    Fried chicken and roast beef dinners with all the trimmings, along with homemade desserts, will be served in the parish center. Guests can dine in or carry out.

    TELL CITY – Tell City Evangelical United Church of Christ, located on 10th and Jefferson streets, is seeking vendors for the its upcoming street fair. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, beginning at 10 a.m. Anyone interested in reserving a space or seeking more information, call (812) 547-4521.

    ST. MEINRAD – St. Meinrad and Historic St. Boniface (Fulda) parishes will join with Saint Meinrad Archabbey to celebrate the solemnity of Corpus Christi on Sunday, June 23.

  • Six monks celebrate priesthood jubilees

    ST. MEINRAD – The Benedictine monks at Saint Meinrad Archabbey in St. Meinrad, IN, celebrated the priesthood ordination jubilees of six of their confreres on May 26, 2019.  

    Honored were Fr. Vincent Tobin, Fr. Augustine Davis and Fr. Lambert Reilly, 60 years; Fr. Eugene Hensell and Fr. Raymond Studzinski, 50 years; and Fr. Godfrey Mullen, 25 years.

  • Deer Creek VBS June 9

    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church invites families to come for a walkin’ taco dinner on Sunday, June 9, at 5 p.m. After eating, parents will have an opportunity to enroll their children in vacation bible school, then leave them at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. the same evening. Parents are welcome to stay, too.

    The bible school participants will learn about, “Man vs. Whale” through songs, games, stories and of course, snacks.

  • The Rev. Jeff McCarn installed as minister of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City

    In a Sunday afternoon service on April 28, the Rev. Jeff McCarn was installed as minister of Evangelical United Church of Christ by officials of the Lincolnland Association of the Indiana-Kentucky Conference of the United Church of Christ. 

  • Three deacons ordained at Saint Meinrad Archabbey

    ST. MEINRAD – Three seminarians received the order of deacon from the Most Rev. Charles Thompson, archbishop of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Church Saturday.

    The newly ordained deacons are Jinho (Paul) Kim and Taesang (Andrew) Yun, both of the Diocese of Busan in South Korea; and Michaelprakasam Puthumaisavari of the Diocese of Palayamkottai, India. They are students at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology.

    Others in their class will be or have been ordained deacons in their respective dioceses.

  • Branchville hosts IU, NBA standout

    BRANCHVILLE – Branchville Correctional Facility welcomed basketball icon Kent Benson and his message of Excellence on Wednesday. Benson, and singer songwriter Randy Beard presented a message of excellence, forgiveness and faith.

    Beard, started off the program with music, and a message of faith, help and healing. He came back at the end of the program, performing his song “Get Away Snake.”
