William Tell Elementary kindergarten round-up March 6

-A A +A

TELL CITY – Kindergarten enrollment for the Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. March 6 for all children entering school for the first time.

Parents and children should enter through the main door and follow the signs. All children registering for kindergarten will be given folders.

To enter kindergarten for the 2014-15 school year, a child must be at least 5 years old on or before Aug. 1. A child does not have to enroll in kindergarten at age 5.

If parents believe the child is not ready, the child may enter kindergarten at age 6.

Parents should take with them the following: The child to be enrolled, to give him or her an opportunity to see the school; the child’s official birth certificate – not the hospital certificate; the child's social security card; three emergency phone numbers other than the parent or guardian’s home or place of employment; for children residing at a rural route address, the 911 address and a record of immunizations.

All school children are required by law to be fully immunized. The record should include the dates of immunizations. The varicella immunization is required.

Children will not be enrolled without a copy of the child's birth certificate and immunization record that includes the varicella vaccine.

Enrollment takes 20 to 30 minutes. There will be forms to complete, so it is best if one of the parents accompanies the child. For more information, call the  school at 547-9727.

There will be kindergarten classes on the day of kindergarten round-up.

Current kindergarten parents will provide tours and answer questions every 30 minutes, starting at 1:30 p.m. and continuing until 5:30 p.m.
