Tell City Panthers win Seymour tourney

SEYMOUR — Morgan Schuetter led the Tell City Panthers in hits, RBIs and runs scored as they won the Thunder Classic age-14-and-under girls softball tourney last weekend.

The Panthers won three of four pool games. They beat Seymour 14-2 but then committed three errors in the first inning as they lost to Indiana Tomahawks 8-3.

They rebounded to beat Edgewood Fire & Ice 13-3 and Southern Indiana Crushers 6-5 to earn the No. 2 seed for the single-elimination bracket.

They then beat the Crushers again 7-3 and avenged their loss to the Toma hawks 8-3 to win the tourney.

Schuetter hit four singles, two doubles and three triples in the tourney as she finished with six runs batted in and eight runs scored.

MaKaylee Buntin and Madison Schuetter each added five RBIs, with Madison Schuetter hitting three doubles.

Emili Stephens and Buntin each scored seven runs for the tourney. Natalie Sanders added six and Chelsey Billings five.
