Tell City man stabbed Sunday; suspect jailed

TELL CITY – A 50-year-old man is in jail after a Sunday-evening stabbing in Tell City.

Alan Presler, 530 11th St., Tell City, faces a Class B felony charge of aggravated battery; criminal recklessness, a Class D felony and a misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

According to the Tell City Police Department, officers were called to the area of Rolling Pines Apartments on Orchard Hill Drive shortly after 7 p.m. after receiving a report that someone had been stabbed and the alleged suspect was attempting to leave on a motorcycle.  

Officers arrived on scene to find the victim, 31-year-old David Fisher of Tell City, with a wound to his neck and face. Fisher was transported to Owensboro Medical Health System and later flown to a hospital in Louisville, Ky.  

Tell City Police Lt. Alan Malone said Monday afternoon he was waiting for an update on Fisher’s condition.

Presler allegedly fled the scene on a motorcycle before officers arrived. Based on witness clothing descriptions, officers detained him at the intersection of Indiana 66 and Indiana 237 near the Ohio River bridge. He was questioned and later charged and transported to the Perry County Jail.

Assisting the Tell City Police Department were the Perry County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police Crime Scene Unit and K-9 unit, Cannelton Police Department, Perry County EMS and the Tell City Fire Department.
