HUNTINGBURG—Tell City won four events but finished third in a boys triangular swim meet Thursday due to a lack of depth.
Southridge won with 139 points. Heritage Hills, which won only one of the 12 events, scored 94 and Tell City had 70.
Tell City senior Greg Clayton won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:03.76 and the 500 free in 5:40.92.
He teamed with Justin Peter, Trent Benningfield and Hunter Sandage to win the 400 free relay in 4:08.34.
Peter won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.86, his best time of the season.
He placed second in the 100 free in 53.15 seconds.
Peter, Benningfield, Clayton and Sandage placed second in the 200 free relay in 1:46.00.
Sandage took second in the 500 free in 6:15.85 and third in the 200 free in 2:16.47.
“Overall I’m probably the most pleased with the way our distance swimmers swam this evening,” said Tell City Coach Lew Anderson. “We’ve been putting in some long sets and I think it’s finally starting to pay off for them.”
Benningfield placed fourth in the 50 free in 28.04 and Yu-Li Ho was fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:32.35.
Tell City, 2-17, will swim at Mount Vernon Saturday at 11 a.m.
